    opinions on 31x10x50 michelin ltxat2's

I've got the Duratracs on my 1008, mot a lot of miles so far but they seem good! Fairly aggressive, but also not too much road noise.

    M1008 Wheel/Tire upgrade

Just installed 285 75 16 Duratracs on my 08. Despite some of the tirerack reviews I'm very happy with them! The duratracks are a tad taller (33.1) than most of the 285's (32.8). Heve only had a few minor snowfalls this year, but these tires have excellent grip and ride pretty decent for this...

    Best source for exhaust?

Just went through this saga... Towing about 7k behind the truck and a pipe (pre muffler) busted... Motor is a SBC, but pipes are the same! Wasn't able to stay off the gas, loud as ****!!!! Bought the Dynomax system via mail order, but definitely won't recommend as it didn't fit very well! Was...

    tires/wheels

I'm running 285 75 16's on stock rims. Only rubbing was against the drag-link which i fixed by installing/adjusting a longer steering stop bolt in. Tires were Pro comps which wore evenly. Tires were cheap (now 3 yrs old) and fairly aggressive, but are pretty much done. Wanted to put new ones on...

    engine swap opinion

BTDT with the SBC conversion. 350 4 bolt main, mild cam, aftermarket intake and HEI. Best carb so far has been a Q-Jet, no surprise there. Some finagling is needed with the radiator hoses, but fairly simple. I bought a "towing" convertor and fine tuned the trans governor. Removed a lot of the...

Transmission Cooler - Which one to go with???

I used a "cheapie" off a part out one ton and installed in front of the radiator. I would strongly suggest running to the cooler, then through the radiator cooler. These trucks don't run that hot and it's better to have a somewhat constant temperature going back to the trans.

    M1008 shocks

While back i bought full set of procomp 9000 es shocks and steering stabilizer for less than $150 (online) Seem to work well, but i don't do much offroad travel

    M1008 tire size?

Yes, the 285's will fit. The rim is a little narrow, but i have not had any abnormal wear issues. I had to adjust the left side steering stop as the tire was hititng the steering gear, but that was the only issue. The CUCV stock rims are 6 1/2 wide...

    Increasing payload capacity m1008

Someone correct me if i'm wrong, but.... The only difference between the 1028 and 1008 springs is the overload spring packs! I pulled a set of overloads and the perches from a one ton dually and installed on my 08. I've had the truck loaded over the top of the cab with wood, also had 1 3/4...

    towing an M1009

Would also suggest wrapping some duct tape around the ujoint so you don't lose a joint cap!

    vehicle security

Looks like a whole lot of ho ha over a older vehicle that is NOT on the ten most stolen list and probably never was! Change the ign cyl and door locks and be done with it. Unless you're installing a high end stereo or other niceties i wouldn't go much further than that! (IMHO) Alarms and such...

    M1008 of M1028 for Plowing

1028 would be better as stated due to the posi front. With that said my 08 is a plow monster (well was when tires were new). I have a 800 ft driveway and of course have a hill on the far end. Last year had some issues plowing uphill during the last two wet snows we had, but other than that the...

    Time for new tires

Randy, I've got 285 75 16's on my 08 with no rubbing or unusual wear issues. Had to "adjust" the steering stop bolt slightly due to drag link contact, but no problems otherwise. I'm also ready for new shoes, and seriously contemplating the duratracs. Seem to have good reviews from what I've...

Need an adapter to go from my camper trailer to my M1008

Dstang: Yes, Hoppy makes the adapter. The 41105 is for the four plug flat. If i recall i chopped the four pin end off and wired it to the 7 pin (vehicle side). 4 wire + brake control, reverse, and aux/pwr brings you to 7. I've also soldered direct to the applicable wires, but the tap is a...

Need an adapter to go from my camper trailer to my M1008

Dstang, Not sure if you're replying to my post, but if so.... It splices into the main harness, which has a connector in the left rear. Have used that particular set-up numerous times. I do agree with the 7 pin under the bumper as stated above Eric Eric

Need an adapter to go from my camper trailer to my M1008

IMHO it would be easier to get the "t" tap kit and just install a seperate 7 pin! When i did mine i got a combo unit that has both the flat 4 and round seven.... Tap inserts between the factory connections near the left rear light! (Believe you need the 1983 truck adapter) Gives you a weather...

    Snow plow......specifics.....

Lindy, I have a older fisher setup on my 08 and I'm local (10 min west of Kingston) if you want to take a look. Push plates were from a 1/2 or 3/4 ton checy, same vintage. Used plow rigs are out there, but now probably isn't the best time to score! Had to remove the front rings and brushgaurd...

How do I install trailer brake control?

I would also suggest installing a new plug (in addition to the mil plug). The "t" connectors make it simple.... pull apart connector by left taillight, install connector in-between harness ends, secure wires! I installed a plug that has both the seven pin and a four pin connector. Eric
