Was just in the TM's for something on mine.... Go to resources and find the 34 series TM. Chapter 2 has trouble shooting, lo and behold, there's a section for trans, to include no downshifts!
Eric
Why would you replace a downshift solenoid in the trans first? Trans was installed and it worked prior! So, seeing as how trans is in a different vehicle i would check for power in, and out of the downshift switch on the accelerator pedal FIRST (in conjunction with power wire to side of...
Would also check the front axle u-joints.... My 08 started binding on slow sharp turns (hubs unlocked). I would think you'd feel the binding in the wheel, but, doesn't hurt to check....

Non tactical vehicle... Hmmm
Spent a lot of time on Fort Drum and numerous other military installations. Typically, tactical vehicles were not allowed off base for errands. So, claiming/marking a vehicle as NTV kind of made off base use a little more acceptable. Kind of a grey...

FYI, NO armorall! Product actually removes the oils from rubber, vinyl, etc. causing more damage than if left dry. Do a google, lots of info on this subject on the net!

Went through this with my 08, but seeing as how converted to SBC alt isn't the same. On the older alts power to light (excite) is "pwered" by ign, then grounded through regulator unit. In my case it was a bad alternator that wasn't grounding the circuit.
You can reach up from below with test...
Hmmm, mice! BTDT! would strongly suggest you remove the heater blower motor and check for debris in the heater core area.
While moving vehicles around for snow removal i left my 1008 running. A short while later i looked over and the cab was full of smoke. Seems the mice had built a home in...
You can still use the rad oil cooler, but will need the oil filter base assy if the BB doesn't have it. Better to have detached coller though... Ran into a issue with a V series truck and BBC. Owner had aftermarket "high-performance" oil pan to be installed with new motor. Well, kick-out was...
If you're going carb set-up you really don't need a harness. Everything you need is there! s previously stated, the injector pump solenoid is "ign" powered source, sending units wires are all there., same for the alternator. It's a fairly simple hookup. Just label your diesel sensor wires...
Would probably be cheaper and easier to go carb setup... Aftermarket intakes are fairly inexpensive and Quadrajets are readily available (with decent rebuild will perform well with little to no problems!) Lot less chances for issues with a HEI set-up and carb... Much less of a hassle with...
I'm sure some will disagree, but.... M1009 would not be my choice for a dedicated tow vehicle. Shorter wheelbase vehicles aren't the best in panic situations!
Secondly, you towing a enclosed trailer, what's the car/trailer combo weigh?
Towed my drag car for many years (open trailer) behind a...
Added floor insulation to my 1008 as the heat in the summertime was brutal! Bought some synthetic material fairly cheap on fleabay and installed carpet over the top of that. Definitely helped with the heat, sound was also reduced.

Type "F" is definitly Ford spec fluid. Will give firmer shifts than dexron due to lack of (or less) friction modifiers.
The B&M Trick shift is basically a enhanced type F.
Common for high performance GM to use the Type F fluid (My 12 sec drag camaro for instance)
Been meaning to post pics and details on my hitch install on the 85 1008.....

Ended up torching of the most foward portions of the shacle mount bars underneath the frame. Measured and Trimmed just enough that i can put a flat plate from whats left of the bracket to...
