I was thinking of taking the low-hour Yanmar off a 3kw genset I had a few months ago and slapping it on my log splitter in place of the gas engine. That was an awesome little engine, I kinda regret selling it. I'd buy another if I found one cheap.
I remember my 32 sounding like a monster. I don't remember what the mep-018a gasser sounds like. 20hp would be PLENTY for a go kart... Maybe a little too much.
This was just for curiousity and bouncing ideas around. We're probably not anywhere near doing this.
My son's are 14 and 6, both of...
I had a milsurp gasoline powered compressor a while back with a 4a032 that I was very tempted to move to my childhood go kart frame for my sons. Now I have a MEP-018a that I'm thinking I might cannibalize for it's motor. I don't know what motor it is or what the weight is, but I'm toying with...
Just for pure speculation...
How do you folks think a MEP-802a Lister motor would work on a lawn tractor (water cooled)?
How about a MEP-002a motor (air cooled)?
My particular tractor has a hydrostatic tranny, so a steady RPM engine is all I need. Well, since this is just speculation, assume...
I believe there was a paper on the wires rubbing. I ran across several safety MWO type papers a few months ago on my phone, while in a waiting room, but haven't been able to find them since.
I know the battery cable routed underneath the generator is likely to rub. Mine had rubbed through and...
That's the funny thing about it. The lines are not hugely different from the M35, but they're different enough to say "built when the '55 Chevy was new."
This thing has appeal because it's already too screwed to be worth much, and it's something my sons and I can spend time together working on.
If I found one in much better shape really cheap, I'd be into it, but $6k is too much for me.
This is really just seeing a potential opportunity and...
Grief does a lot of weird things to a person. To us, it's a total waste of the vehicle. To her, the vehicle is just a pile of shaped metal that means nothing without her sentimentality, and restoring it might be like dismissing his memory. It's why some parents that have lost children will leave...
I made some headway yesterday. I reached the property owner, who said it belongs to his son, whom he has not spoken to in several years. He had no phone number, but gave me his name (which was a different last name, seemed a little odd), and I've been unable to have much luck so far.
The...
I'm sure I could get a local shop to pull the bed for me for a couple bucks, too.
Two trips will suck, but if I leave it at my dads, it can probably stay there indefinitely, and I can go pick up the bed some day down the road. Maybe if I get it running and driving, I'll drive it back up for the...
Ah, that's a bummer. Maybe I'll tow it overloaded and underspeed (axles are actually 30k each) to my dad's place ten miles away, then strip stuff off until it's light enough to haul the 100+ miles home.
On a side note, mods, feel free to move this thread to the proper forum now that's it...
Another question for the group, rather than starting a new thread;
Anyone know how much an M135 like this weighs?
I have a 10k backhoe trailer and can borrow a truck that can haul it. That would make life with it much easier than adding the cost of a hauler. Actually, adding professional...
I pulled out my notes on this and finally called a few numbers I scoured off the web.
The business it was parked behind knows nothing about it, btw. It's apparently not their property.
But I spoke to a little old lady today who lives near it. She would LOVE for me to take it, she knew what I...
Wow, I'm amazed at the evapo-rust results. I've thought about that stuff before, but figured it was a lot of sales pitch. Those are pretty good results, though.
Well, I do really like it in theory, just not so much in performance. I probably need 8kw for my occasional loads, so I'm a bit bummed I can't make this unit work as-is.
I think I just talked to that guy today, he said someone was coming down tomorrow to look at the 4 he had left.
He said he bought them and didn't do a thing, just selling them as-is the way he picked them up.
That being the case, check the crankcase for water. Also lift the exhaust flapper...
I didn't take a reading on it, so I don't know the actual current flow at the time. But I had my 4500 watt electric water heater on, probably (20) 18 watt led lights, and my well pump kicked on. So I'm guessing it went to around 5500, or even 6kw. Unfortunately, I don't know what my well pump...
Nevermind, just reread your first post and saw that your lift pump seems ok.
I'd say crack the feed lines at the injectors and see if they leak fuel when cranking.
Btw, make sure you ground the set before starting. I read documentation on these that some units had poorly routed genhead wiring...
Are you sure you're getting fuel to the injection pump?
Mine behaved similarly when I got it, and one problem was the lift pump not pumping initially. I had to disassemble that, too. But in hindsight, I think I could have just removed the input to the lift pump, poured some diesel in it to lube...
If you're concerned, you could buy a 24v battery charger and plug it into the convenience outlet. That's what I did when my charging circuit on my 002 failed.
