With the "accessory" switch on, engine not running and low air buzzer off I can hear my pump running from the driver's seat. At the very least if you go over to the tank you should be easily be able to hear making a very noticeable humming sound. But just because it is running doesn't mean it is...
The M34 Eager Beaver was equipped with single 11:00-20s and had a narrower bed and wheel wells in the bed sides for extra suspension travel. M35s had 9:00-20 duals and a wider flat bed. However, I think the M34 bed was lower than the M35 bed as well. A lot of folks run 11:00s and 12:00s on M35s...

The Deuce can certainly do that. As for your fuel question, check out the "Alternative Fuels" forum, lots of good info there. Do a search for "ring and mount" (without the quotes), there are many threads on that subject.

There are negative aspects to Deuce ownership as well. Consider these points:
1. Most people will consider you a little bit nuts for wanting to buy one.
2. Most people will consider you more than a little bit nuts for actually...
Re: RE: Re: RE: 6 Wheels vs. 10 WheelsthereT
The issue is not so much the tires rubbing on a fully loaded truck on a level pavement. The springs don't flex much, even at max load. The real problem is in serious off road use such as crossing ditches and berms or making the transition from steep...
RE: Re: RE: 6 Wheels vs. 10 WheelsthereT
You can, and a few people do, flip the rear hubs and run 9:00-20 singles. They look goofy since the outside of the tire is well inboard of the bed (which is why the M34/M135 beds were narrower). For that matter, even the 11:00-20s look a little goofy...
Re: RE: 6 Wheels vs. 10 WheelsthereT
Not completely accurate. The "Deuce" was originally made in three variants, the M34, M35 and M36. The M34 "Eager Beaver" had 11:00-20 tires all around, single rears, and a narrower bed (because of the narrower overall tire width) with wheel wells (similar to...
OPCOM - Roger on the above. I use my GPS when I want a precise speed measurement, it is accurate to 0.1 mph. My speedo reads 10% low, and at an indicated 50 MPH I am actually doing 55 MPH per my GPS. Likewise, my odometer reads 5% low compared to my GPS. Tire wear appears to be a critical factor...
It is hard to say the size definitively from the photo, but the from tread pattern they are Michelin XL tires. Among other sizes, they are made in 9:00R20 and 11:00R20, but the tires in the photo look too large to be 9:00s. I'd guess they are 11:00R20s, and yes they will fit on a stock Deuce...
Here is the LDS chart. I have not been able to find one for the LDT engine, but the torque and horsepower curves for both engines should be pretty similar differing only in magnitude. I.E., were the torque/horsepower curves for both engines plotted on the same chart, the curves would be pretty...
OPCOM - You did not state the rolling radius of the 11:00-20 tires, but it appears pretty close to the 21" rr of the 14:50s. Is your data equally applicable to radial and bias ply tires?
Tom - Can you crank up a chart with 46" diameter tires added? My goal would be a 60+ mph at 2200 rpm to...
If you spend a lot of time hunting around, you CAN find GL-1. But don't bother. A GL-5 gear oil meeting the MT-1 spec is an acceptable substitute and provide better lubrication properties. I use Valvoline 85W-140 gear oil, GL-5 and meets MT-1. I get it at Wally World, but any GL-5 which STATES...
Yes, there is an inner axle seal. You will also want a set of gaskets that seal the axle shaft flange to the hub, the cork seal or silicon sealant for the spindle keyway, and maybe even a spare locking washer or two for the axle nuts in event you break the locking ears off of yours. Many of the...
I haven't found one for the LDT yet, but here is one for the earlier 2600 RPM LDS. It should be pretty close, the HP and torque would be lower on the LDT but the curves should be comparable. Best I can do for ya, hope it helps!
Re: RE: Leaking fluids!!! need help!!
Correct, 3" and octagonal (8 sided), not hex (6 sided like most bolts/nuts).
Part numbers: OTC1903 or KDS2445. Your local parts store should be able to order either. The OTC socket is usually cheaper, a little cruder design but works very well despite its...
Re: RE: Re: RE: Allen wrench size for trans fill / drain plu
It is apparently unique to the Spicer-Wolverhampton tranny. The Brits just can't be happy with a Yank design, they just have to change SOMETHING!
Re: RE: Allen wrench size for trans fill / drain plugs???
Not true. Most of the axles, T-case and trannys use drain plugs with a 1/2" square recess and can be removed/replaced with a 1/2" ratchet or breaker bar. However, the English built trannys use a different drain plug which requires a hex...
