Seems like a good idea, except for the engine. It is already pretty well "pressurized" by leakage past the piston rings. If one attempted to pressurize it from the air system they would have to block off the breather tube or risk running the truck out of air. Maybe a check valve in the breather...
MOST Deuce owners are best served with a 0-15 PSI boost gauge. Unless you really crank up the fuel, a C turbo will typically max out at around 10 PSI, a D turbo will do a couple of PSI more. With that said, there are members on this board who have reported boost exceeding 15 PSI. I'd suggest...
RE: Re: bypassing the FDC
JIMK - Did you retime the injection pump when you added the turbo? As best I can recall, LDs inject 24 or 25 degrees BTDC, turbos inject at 20 degrees BTDC.
Well, I made it up there for part of Saturday, along with my 7 year old co-driver. He made a big hit in General Jim's. As we were checking out, the cashier asked if I had brought a vehicle to the MV show. As it happened, my Deuce was clearly visible through the front window and I pointed it out...
RE: Re: bypassing the FDC
Following is the link to adjusting the fuel delivery. Bypassing the FDC is claimed to be about the same as increasing the fuel delivery adjustment by about one full turn. WARNING! One full turn increase in the fuel delivery is dangerous. You get gobs of power, but you...
Why do you want to bypass the FDC? There is no reason to do so unless your FDC is leaking fuel into the oil. If you are looking for more power, there are easier ways to get more power than bypassing the FDC. Just make sure you install a pyrometer first!
Re: RE: Re: RE: 6 Wheels vs. 10 WheelsthereT
The "Lazy Man's" way to single out the rears is to just pull off one wheel off each rear rear hub. The rear wheels may be mounted dish in or dish out as the owner wishes. While this works in a way, the front and rear tires have a different track...

Most antifreeze is green, except for Extended Life Coolant and a few specialty coolants, because it all comes the same feedstock, Ethylene Glycol. The difference between "diesel" and "gasoline" coolants is the additive package. Just make sure the container is marked "For HD Diesel Use" or use...
Whatever came on the truck. I assume a stock 9:00-20 adapter, but there are no markings on it so I can't say for sure. Were it an 11:00-20 adapter, that might explain some of the inaccuracy, but I have no way of telling for certain what adapter I have.
Agreed. But that is what I have, 10% low...
Might just as well replace the handle as buy a new tool, the wood is going to rot at the same rate either way. Most any decent hardware store (True Value, Ace etc., maybe even the big box store like Lowes & Home Depot) should have replacement wood handles. I've replaced quite a few, it is fairly...
I went with the NAPA NP KS6180 keyed ignition switch that devilman96 suggested, cost me $18.80 at the local NAPA store. The NAPA switch takes a 3/4" double "D" mounting hole (like a round hole with a flat on each side to keep the switch from rotating, the top and bottom of the hole are round and...
RE: Re: Fuel filter question
The long primary filter element is incorrect. The short element is used in the primary filter to create a sump in the bottom of the filter cannister for water and crud to settle out.
RE: Re: RE: Re: Deuce Idle RPM?
OK. We are both right. I checked again, read too fast the first two times. Mine does say:
Early Models (LD-465-1 [NOT LDT 465-1 as I wrote], LD-465-1C)
(engine idle speed stamped on fuel pump ID plate) . . . . . . . . . 650-700 rpm
So I was wrong about the LD...
Re: RE: Re: Deuce Idle RPM?
Negative. Direct quote from the TM 9-2320-361-20 series page 1-32:
"Idle speed: Early Models (LDT 465-1 and LDT 465-1C) (engine idle speed stamped on fuel pump ID plate)......... 650-700 rpm"
Might have been changed at a later date, my TM includes Change #C, dated...
Re: RE: M 35 mulitfuel questions
1C or 1D on the engine data tag has nothing to do with the turbo. 1C/1D refers to the engineering change level (usually has to do with improvements to internal components) of the engine, either one could have either turbo installed depending on what was on the...
Per TM 9-2320-361-20, the correct engine idle speed is supposed to be stamped on the fuel pump data plate. For LDT 465-1 and early 1C engines the idle speed is spec'd at 650-700 rpm; for 1D and later 1C engines the idle speed is 800-850 rpm. The higher idle speed seems to work better for most...
Now I get the picture. That will work fine as long as you flip the rear hubs back to the dual position. I thought you were going to retain single 11:00-20s on the rear, which is what I would do.
M34 and M35 beds are quite a bit different, as mentioned in my first post.
