Saw hmmwv's at NAS Jax DRMO

Speaking of keeping the hmmwv super secrets and tactical vehicles out of the hands of those pesky American citizens, but last I recall didn't our fearless leader sell hummer to the Chinese?? Just sayin.

Saw hmmwv's at NAS Jax DRMO

Well one can hope they slide through with "papers". Odd how we pay for all these things yet we are the last to ever have the "opportunity" to "pay" for them a second time and jump through allthese hoops, yet they hand this stuff out all over the world..

Saw hmmwv's at NAS Jax DRMO

Gotta love how they deem Hmmwv's "unsafe" but no problem on a 13,000# M35 that would barrel through a house... Or a giant high speed crane truck.

CUCV's on GL lately, high $$?

Been watching the CUCV's on GL lately. Seems like they are selling for some serious coin. They haven't rolled through my area yet and I'd like to pick one or two up. Last I checked there were quite a few going for near $3K and even one at $5500 but that was a shop truck with the welder etc.. Is...

Saw hmmwv's at NAS Jax DRMO

Makes me wonder since AM Gen doesn't sell the H1 anymore to the public for $100K+ (a cheap mil version would hurt sales) and with the Military budget on the chopping block they may be prompted to auction these puppies off.. Im sure the "no public sale" was in the orig contract when they began...

Saw hmmwv's at NAS Jax DRMO

That's too bad. That would be a cool addition but doesn't seem worth the trouble and all the attention surrounding them. I mean it's not like it's an MRAP or something...

Saw hmmwv's at NAS Jax DRMO

I thought I read something about people buying them in parts from the auctions and reassembling them. Kinda depends on how "disassembled" they are but if you are reassembling major sections at a time then I would do that. I'm not really interested in doing it an A arm here and a halfshaft there..

Saw hmmwv's at NAS Jax DRMO

Saw some hummers at the NAS location today. Anything new on the sale of them to the public?

Newbie checking out a deuce today??

Here is the start of my exhaust setup. Using a 4" selector valve, with reducers to route out the stack or back to the muffler out the back. The 180 bend will be hacked to create an S bend that wraps around the battery box if I can make all this fit. My shoulder is F'ed up right now so I won't be...

Newbie checking out a deuce today??

Been rollin out and driving around the beach a little more. Haven't really had it up past 30mph much. Lots of noise and rattles up past 30, lol. Gets lots of thumbs up, literally had a lady hanging out yelling "awesome!!!!" Greased most of the zerks/u joints/slip joints up front and the...

    Muffler installation with db comparison

I have the large walker RV muffler and just purchased an exhaust diverter that will let me select the open stack or the muffler which I am routing out the back through the muffler. Does anyone have any readings of muffled exhaust out the back of the truck? I would think this would cut down...

    M35A2 Insurance.. Got it!

Just got my plates/registration and insured it at the DMV yesterday on the phone with USAA (for the day) at $585.00 every 6mos for comp/collision. Now swapping to another ins company for a lower rate. Tried travelers and many others but living in florida, not having a garage for it is a pain...

Newbie checking out a deuce today??

Thanks guys! I did that at first too. Uploaded some pics for ya to see how I did it, seems to be workin nicely with the axle grease. Just bent the cotter pins as you can see. Washers to tack up any space/slack. Love to man! Be kick ass to meet up at the beach with both the trucks. Talked...

Newbie checking out a deuce today??

Finally got my door hinges done. Usedsteel pins with cottor pin holes at the bottom just long enough, and greased them. Used regular stainless nut/bolt for the front mirror mount. Moved my heater controls to the far left side to make room for the radio and a/c setup going under the dash.

Newbie checking out a deuce today??

Hehe! Ya I know.. Yeah this thing is awesome! Love doing the restore, with a little extra creature comforts. Just looking into a power steering pump out of a GM truck or anything else will meet the specs of the box. Maybe do a belt setup on the drivers side, those 5 tons are either way pricey...

    Deuce power steering conversion

Also heard some guys have used GM pumps witht he HF54 steering setups but not sure of the flow or psi specs. Maybe from some of the heavier duty GM trucks? P-style pumps seem to meet the lower end of the specs for the HF54 boxes. 5ton pumps are like unicorns lately..

Newbie checking out a deuce today??

Alright, some are missing from in between but inside is mostly done. Carpet may be cool, but the beach idea down in Vilano will just make hosing it out a pain, unless its a snap in set? Hmm... maybe later. Still haven't put in those screw in light covers in the dash, apparently they are brass...

Deuce is sporting a new coat

I just got a 1970 deuce that is desert tan and I have the rapco 686 tan in a gal and one more rattle can left from redoing my interior, dash, seats, etc.. to clean it up. I'd really like to tackle some of the exterior panels witht he gfallon now. Can I use a small cigar roller to apply the...
