I droped in to this late.. dave there is guy in Wisc. that makes an adaptor plates for and crap to fit 4 and 5cyl. to gm trannies also the getrag out 80's 325i will bolt up..
Your are right 67... I just like the torque and the power to wieght thing not mention the reliability.. I think most poeple get distracted with the whole more power thing, lose sight sight of balance that is is required to make vechical great circumstances it finds itself in.. case and point a GPW..
I understand this what I do.. Is spend way to much $$$ on some part and I feel quilty for it than I have to install it. thats why I have heated leather seats in my 1009 and A/C. the trick is to do it in small increments and plan for almost every contigencey. and get to wrenching
ODave & the guy from utah you have enadvertly solved my master cyld issue never thought of mixing and matching slaves and master cylinders... Thanks you very much...
If I was going to beat a 1009 up in maine?? and for dependibility sake... swap the 6.2 and the 400 out for a 292 with sm465 205.. swap a dana 44 and 14 bolt 373
292 is half the wieght and is torquey thing almost as reliable as 300 ford
sm465 is bullet proof as is the 205
diesels in the cold of...
I am doing the same swap in my 1028, I statred from the other end Nv4500 swap, figured that was hard part.. it mated to a 6.2 at the moment. I am really enjoying this set up other than clutch pedal issues.. nice to buzz down the road @ 70 without engine sreaming ect.
I had some issue before mixing bio-diesel and kerosene before it tended to gell up I don't know if it was the lye or the acetate the reacted with it? bascally pea away 150 gal of stuff since than I only use WMO diesel and very little gas..
It was mess
Hold the horses the new 6.5 motor AMG uses the same crap that was on the gm as long as the motor is still made and install humvee there will be someone cranking out part for the Gov.. just my two cents
I was home, and decided to drive the 1028 a bit after my filter relocation.
I notice when I stopped and release the clutch at a stop sign ect.. my locker seemed kicked in?? would that happen, can it be adjusted in some fashion it kind of annoying with the clunkikng and chrepping and not to ment...
I went with a nv4500 mod all in all ran me about 1600 bucks, The advance adapter ranger gear with sm465 would have been about same but way too many sticks
Cheaper I think to re-gear and put in an overdrive
example
new gears 373 installed front and rear around 1000 buck
gear vendor od about 2300
drive shaft re work about 200 bucks
