That was one of the many repairs needed when I was putting the LVAD back together. It is actually the latch's lock. As pressure from the hydraulic builds up, it slides the rod out of the latch releasing the latch to open, the rod on the other side is a visual indicator to the latch being locked...
Recovry4x4
Mitsubishi Fuso FG is a factory built 4x4 , the size of the Isuzu / GMC W
Though too rare/valuable for me to offroad, my Pinzgauer XM 718K has all the abilities of the older Pinzes and the modern engine/trans for the speeds of American highways8)... not to mention the latest...
For those that might find it interesting, the M1082 specs.
What's scary is that the empty weight of the trailer is still 1500 lbs more than the original HMMWV:shock:
All FMTVs have 12v lamps. It is part of the bad rap FMTVs get. 7 of 8 turn/brake/tail lamps had been changed to 24v bulbs in my M1094. And the truck gets blamed for the dim lamps:x
I don't where you got the Dodge rim is wider? These rims I have are 6 1/2" wide. Narrow by all modern standards. Basic steel rim
The closest I could find to mimic the TD Pinz appearance without goting to a 5 or 6 bolt rim
And a pic of the HMMWV tire on the trailer before changed it. And can see...
The Dodge rims seem to have the most offset short of using dually rims (the idea of tearing my shins on lug bolts everytime I'm near the trailer, just doesn't appeal to me )
Buying more axles really isn't an option. My biggest challenge at the moment is getting a work area.. The FDT and...
I had the Pinz out to Fairplex for a militaria swapmeet a few week back. It found this popgun, and I said it couldn't keep it... makes me thinking I need to find an abandoned M119 somewhere.
..
The 3rd pic is with a standard Dodge 8 lug rim (same as Ford and older GMC/Chevy). The older Chevy wheel should bolt right on and the correct backset. What a tire shop told me was that the newer Chevy/GMC rims are a metric pattern that is close, but not the same. I have not verified it... I...
Straight axles is the simplest way out... I'm not known for taking the "simple" way
But I did conceded early on NOT to change the hubs to TD Pinzgauer lug pattern... that by itself would have cost me 6x what the trailer did.
The tire in the last pic is a 265/75-16, just to get a general...
The A3 is the only variant M116 with a raised center axle, all the rest are straight (though the same reference conterdicts itself:?), and a piece of cake to cut and splice back together. If you don't intend to drive offroad, a straight axle is fine.
The track (tread) listed for the M116A2E1 is...
Rather than going into something blind, I thought to see if anyone has removed the spindles from a M116A3 to re-weld them into the stub axle after being shorten?
I am narrowing the track on a M116A3 to match up with my Pinzgauer ( roughly 10” narrower). I want to keep the raised center axle...
I am currently working to add a/c to my Pinzgauer.
I have an a/c kit for an HMMWV with add-on armor, plus I have a condenser for a FMTV. I am still in the planning stage of what and how I want to do it, but can give you these tidbits of info. The FMTV a/c is rated at26.7k BTUs. The Approximate...
