The other day, after driving my M37 for approximately six I noticed that the oil lines to the stock remove oil filter were still cold. That tells me that in the six miles that I usually drive to town and back the filter isn't warming up enough to stop by-passing.
With this in mind, I'm...
At one time I had concerns that the stock deuce air filter assembly was restricting my LDS-1A engine and therefore contributing to EGTs.
I installed a vacuum gauge under the steering column in place of the little warning thingy.
I can't remember how much vacuum the LDS-1A pulls but it's...
Just a reminder --- when determining the height of the 105 bed don't forget to take into consideration the clearance required to remove the in-tank fuel pump. It takes quite a bit of height to remove the pump.
The Plot Thickens
It pays to check and double check details when you're doing forensics. Today I discovered that all the rods except one were installed with the oil cooling/lubrication port (squirt hole) in the crank end of the rod pointed in the wrong direction?
The holes squirt oil on the...
I think Stewart Warner makes little adapter gear boxes the fits on the back of the speedo. It screws into the speedo and the cable screws into it. I also think they are a series 666 or 777 --- not sure which one.
I've been meaning to look into this with me Car Quest dealer. With the...
I know this is not original equipment but I did away with my buzzer and installed a wig-wag.
It's mounted above the drivers side windshield. When the air pressure gets low an arm drops down to signal a problem. They were standard equipment on trucks back in the 50s.
Specialized Products -...
I'm not saying that it "is" a problem --- I just don't know. I remember when I installed the battery isolator switch on my cruiser the instructions warned about switching/selecting batteries when the engine is running because it could cause alternator damage. I wasn't sure whether the same...
Update
First off --- thanks for all the input --- much appreciated. :-D
We pulled the head and pan today. The pistons look like they came out of a chain saw that someone either ran too lean or didn't put enough oil in the gas. Nr-1 piston was the worst with scoreing on both sides. The...
Isn't that hard on the alternater?
I've always wondered about that. If you turn the accessories switch off where does the juice coming out of the alternator go?
I would run it if it wasn't for fear that it might be a pin that could score a cylinder wall.
One of the nice things about a flathead is that it doesn't take long to pull the top and bottom off.
It's totally illogical but I've picked up an engine noise in the M37 (Pumpkin) engine.
What's illogical about it is the engine was completely rebuilt, clear down to boiling the block, boreing .030 over --- the works several years ago. Granted, it was several years ago but I would guess it...
I went through an in-tank fuel pump dilema last summer and finally ended up buying a new pump from Omympic Controls for approx $225.00.
The in-line carter (and others) thumper pumps work but they don't have the capacity called for in the TMs. According to the TMs, for the milti to produce...
Aluminum melts at 1221 degrees therefore if you run a pre-turbo pyro at over 1200 degrees for any length of time you risk melting the turbo. This isn't cool (pun intended) as the engine can end up eating the turbo.
Watch those turbo temps boys and girls --- happy motoring :driver:
As soon as the weather warms up I'm having a white tuck and rolled naughyde headliner installed in Rosie. I bought the material last fall but the upholstery shop got busy and didn't get it installed. The dash, doors etc will be painted in B-Model Mack Hammertone (pine) green. The seats are...

Reminds me of something I did earlier this winter. After we finished building the Pumpkin (M37) I decided to haul the donor/cannibalized M37 that we robbed all the mechanical parts from to the woods. Since it had a good hood and tailgate that someone might want later we decided to remove it in...
