Read the thread by Sasquatch Santa about his LDS deuce. He had the same issues of black smoke and was able to adjust most of it out without loosing much if any power.
My Deuce came with lots of new parts: LDS, transfer case, master cylinder, air pack, cab, bed, front tires, dog bones. I'll be turning my fuel down soon, lots of black smoke. Love the LDS, huge difference in power from the LDT.
Kenny, it's quite easy. Support the front of the engine by putting wood blocks under the oil pan. Remove the four bolts holding the rear engine support to the engine block. Next, remove the two bolts mounting the support to the bottom frame work. Weld two L brackets on the support directly...

Go to an Interstate battery store and ask if they have any group 31 blems. They're new, $40-$45 each and work great. Tell them you want the screw tops, not the posts. It's a much better set up!!
