    Need some m35 Brake Help

I stand corrected. My previous post was from memory, I rechecked the SMARPI manual, the official dual conversion splits the brakes front and rear. Were I to do the conversion I would do a diagonal split as JimK mentioned (and is used on most vehicles since sometime around the 80s) for improved...

    Need some m35 Brake Help

The stock M35 split brake system used a dual cylinder master cylinder and two AHUs. It split the brake system left/right. Were I to convert mine I would use a diagonal split system so you don't get "brake steer" if one side failed. I'd like to know what tom used for a M/C also!

    Need some m35 Brake Help

A good point. Brakes are probably the most critical component of a vehicle, and generally the least understood by the average shade tree mechanic. Engines, wheels and tires, cooling systems and drivetrain parts are right out there in the open and easy to work with and understand. Other than the...

    Influence MV Magazine

OK, I will back down and admit that was a bit of an overstatement, and the "fixated" comment is more suited to that other magazine. However, the survey results as of today were 31% in the 1/4 ton to 1-1/4 ton categories vs 60% for 1-1/2 ton to 5 ton and up vehicles. That is roughly a 2:1 ratio...

    Re-Powering The Deuce With A 5-Ton LDS-465-1A Engine

TT - You raise an interesting point. The LD/LDT engines and LDS engines are very similar with the same displacement and many interchangeable parts, yet the LD/LDT engines only make 120-130 hp, while the LDS engines make about 190 hp. How do the LDS engines do that and keep EGT in a safe range...

    Re-Powering The Deuce With A 5-Ton LDS-465-1A Engine

Actually, I do have a drain plug drilled and tapped to 3/8" which I will use for my quick and dirty prototype system. I just don't like plumbing any hardware into the oil pan below the oil level. Although highly unlikely, a component failure or a part getting snagged on something and breaking...

Deuce Air System vs 3/4" Impact Wrench

I'm not sure what you are asking. If you are talking about a breaker bar, do not go cheap. I bought two 3/4" MIT breaker bars at about $20 each and broke both. I finally went to my local auto parts store and bought a K-Tool 3/4" bar for about $40 and so far I haven't been able to damage it even...

Well, I finally got it figured out. I use Firefox as my default browser and could not get to the survey entry in Firefox. I pasted the link into IE and the survey popped right up. For what it is worth, as of 11:00am Sunday the results were Jeeps, 16%, medium trucks, 27%, 5 tons and up, 33%. That...

Found one locally, what is the value?

RE: Re: RE: Found one locally, what is the value? When I was in the military, Deuces came in very handy for filling air mattresses! On the other hand, one time on bivouac sleeping on a cot in a GP medium (I was the Company clerk in the Battalion HHC at the time, so I got quite a few extra...

    Re-Powering The Deuce With A 5-Ton LDS-465-1A Engine

gerhard - I agree a 1/4" pump supply woudn't work - probably 1/2" npt is the smallest that would provide enough oil flow. Drill and tap the indicated fitting to 1/2" npt might work, except with the oil pan reversed the pickup would be in the small sump and I don't think there would be enough oil...

Deuce Air System vs 3/4" Impact Wrench

Kenny - I assumed from the photo you had a 1" impact, but the socket in the photo looked identical to my 3/4" socket, which is the only size have. What did the 1" Snap On socket set you back? I bet it was more than the $19 or so I charged you for the 3/4" socket! Kind of interesting though that...

    Re-Powering The Deuce With A 5-Ton LDS-465-1A Engine

Re: RE: Re-Powering The Deuce With A 5-Ton LDS-465-1A Engine Jeff - Where is the LDS dipstick located? Can you provide a picture? Do the LDT blocks have the pipe plug in the LDS location? I'm trying to find an oil pickup point for a prelubricator, but would prefer to NOT run an adapter through...

    Deuce Down!

Freightrain - sorry to hear about the turbo. Where do you get them rebuilt and what is the cost? I agree on the spare parts, that's why I have two multifuels in containers sitting in the back yard. No spare turbos though, darn! Used to have one, till I sold it some guy on this site with a real...

OK, I followed the link and all I could find were the survey results - currently jeeps and other toys @ 24%, serious big green iron at 28%. So how do you get to enter the survey?

Deuce Air System vs 3/4" Impact Wrench

Kenny - Like the air pig setup. I wonder if I can find some room under the bed to install one. BTW, is that one of my sockets on your impact wrench?

Deuce Air System vs 3/4" Impact Wrench

Someone on a recent thread recommended the Harbor Freight Earthquake air impact wrenches for Deuce lug nuts & caps. I had an old el cheapo 1/2" impact that I tried using without much success, it just didn't have to power to do the job. I found a few used Earthquakes on Epay, since I already had...

OK, now I know what a paper clip is, but what is its function and how is it related to locker axles?

    Engine Prelube Info....

A nice package if you can afford it. I doubt a 1/5 hp pump will get you 45 psi though, even with warm oil. It should give you enough flow to fill the cannisters and give you 10 psi or so once the cannisters and oil galleries are filled which is certainly adequate for what is needed. The duece...

    Engine Prelube Info....

Re: RE: pre lube Correct. I was not referring to that plug, but the 1/2" or so plug at the bottom rear of the filter housing next to the oil cooler. That is the drain plug, it is an unfiltered port, so oil from the prelubricator will flow up into the filter cans, around and through the...
