Time to pull the primary filter cannister off, clean out the crud, and install a new primary filter. If there is enough gunk in there that the drain does not flow fuel, chances are that the primary filter is also pretty well plugged up which will contribute to hard starting. Worse yet, if the...
RE: pre lube
Actually, I think the large drain plug on the bottom of the oil filter housing is pre filters, so the flow from the prelubricator would be filtered before it got to the engine.
RE: pre lube
Email sent to McDonalds Trading Post for one pump unit. I will be the guinea pig for this project. I will order a pump with the adapters included but not installed so I can see if i can find a set of adapters with the correct thread to adapt the pump to standard fittings. My intent...
I don't have a C-130 to stuff one into, at least not yet nor in the foreseeable future (although the Mega Millions Lottery is a viable possibility). I'd still like one of the trucks though!
Try increasing your fuel delivery adjustment a bit. When I first got my deuce, it would not start unless I held the accelerator pedal to the floor. I cranked up the fuel delivery about 1/2 turn (3 flat on the adjusting nut) now it starts immediately with my foot off the accelerator pedal...

Westech - can you come up with better contact info for this guy? I did an Ebay search and drew a blank.
RE: Re: RE: The only way to grease
Not to pee on your parade - but with your truck already lifted by the wrecker, it would only take a heartbeat or two to slip a couple of safety stands under your truck to make sure it didn't drop down on you. As a former paramedic, I had two runs on people who...
Two possible reasons I can think of - and they did not do it to all multis - a, If they did have a problem with the FDC leaking, bypassing it was easier and cheaper than replacing the FDC, and b, since all later HD trucks, Humvees, CUCVs etc. were all diesel powered, diesel became the...
RE: Protectant
DONE! Check the August 2007 issue of Military Vehicles Magazine, page 107, for an article "Ground Your MV", written by none other than our own resident Guru of MV knowledge, Bjorn Brandstedt!
Matt - Was that quick enough for you?
Depending on which TM you read, the in-tank fuse is specified as either 2 amps or 3 amps. I couldn't find 3 amp fuses so I used a 4 amp fuse. 20 amps is way too much, you run the risk of damaging your pump motor using a 20 amp fuse.
You can get Breakfree CLP at Wally World, sometimes it is in sporting goods, sometimes automotive, or you can often find it at gun/sporting goods shops and hardware stores. IMHO, it is the greatest stuff since sliced bread. It removes light rust, lubricates and protects against further rusting...
Here is a good diagnostic courtesy of David Doyle via Kenny (Recovery4x4). See the 4th posting in this thread.

Thats what they make 5 gallon, open top buckets for. Ain't NO funnel going to work unless you can fit your fist through it.
As for coolant, use whatever you can find as long as it is labeled "For Heavy Duty Diesel Use" AND has SCAs (or buy the SCAs to go with it).
A. You can stop the deuce without air assist - it just takes a lot of foot power. Per Bjorn's data, with air assist you can get ~1800 psi in the brake system vs ~400 psi with foot power alone. I regularly drive my Deuce around the yard sans air assist while waiting for the air pressure to build...
Not a dumb question. For whatever reason, the military decided to go with a hydraulic brake system at the time. Remember, these trucks were designed in 1949 and went into production in 1950, so we are talking 1950s technology. Maybe at the time the military was not comfortable with air brake...
Bjorn - Check out these centrifuges. The model OC-20 is rated at 55 GPH and can be had for as low as $239.00.
