All of the Deuce wheel bearings and seals (with the possible exception of the front outer seal) have civilian replacement parts. Check the "Parts cross Reference" for part numbers (link is on the left side of this page, towards the bottom, under "Resources").
I was able to get bearings, cups...
Not at all off topic, your Deuce was shown in the video several times. For those who missed it, it was right behind the start/finish line and visible just at the start of the race, at about the 0:38 seconds and 4:17 minute points!
RE: You know...
Jkelly66 - Tell us a little about the trailer you used to get the Deuce home with - Length, GVW, empty weight, make, gooseneck/fifthwheel etc. Was the blowout a road hazard or caused by overloading? What is the max towed weight rating of your pickup truck?
I just saw some of those on Ebay 2 days ago. Don't remember when the auction ended or what the price was. Try searching for "spotlight" or "military truck" and eventually they will show up.
Do you still believe in the Easter Bunny? I've heard he has a good supply of 'screw assembled lockwashers'.
Seriously, the TMs tell you to replace every lockwasher you replace. Don't bother, unless the lockwasher is screwed up or a really critical part. I very rarely replace lockwashers. Its...
As Bjorn pointed out, there IS a reason the oil filters were designed to drain, and that reason is to facilitate engine starting in extremely cold weather conditions. And I believe OPCOM is correct in stating that even with full filters, a prelube system may still be needed.
I did a little...
RE: Re: RE: Change Filters - Doubles Oil Pressure?
James, I doubt you have anything to worry about. The oil pressure in my Deuce is 90 psi when the engine is cold, then drops to 60 psi on the road and 35 psi at idle after the oil reaches operating temperature. Your truck sounds like it is...
Michelin specs a 10" rim width for the big tires. HOWEVER, the stock Deuce rear axles are only 48" apart, so 52" tires will NOT fit unless you spread the axles or remove one rear axle. This is why the posters above stated to use a 46" max tire diameter (12:50, 14:50 or 15:50, a 14:00 is still...
The thermocouple is a joint between two dissimilar metals. This creates a very slight electric potential difference between the metals at the joint. The electric potential changes with temperature, and the pyro amplifies the changes to produce an EGT reading. The leads are mechanically fastened...
Its the "Last One Here" syndrome. All those "Big City" folks want to be the last one to move into a nice " pristine natural setting" (and no one else better move in after them), and then make all of the folks who have been there a while adapt to fit their "Big City" attitude! P*sses me off too...
Here is the set I bought. The boost gauge is mechanical (also available in 30 psi), the pyro is electric. You can order a SCR to run the pyro on 24v and 24V bulbs directly from ISSPRO. I have the gauges installed and working but don't have the bulbs wired up yet. Before I do that I'll "paint"...
M211 is the post WWII, pre M34/M35 GMC Deuce with duals on the rear, 9:00-20 tires all around, full width bed with a flat floor. M135 is similar to the M211 but with single rears, 11:00-20 rubber all around, a slightly narrower bed so it didn't look so funky with the single rears, and wheel...
I have a couple of near new takeout clutch disks. They are not fully broken in yet, the pucks are still rough and both still have some of the gold colored coating on the outer surface of the pucks on both sides. They each measure about 3/8" (.375") thick outside of puck to outside of puck. If...
My Deuce was pretty doggy, so I cranked up my fuel 1/2 turn (3 flats of the adjusting nut, one flat at a time, with pyro in place to make sure I didn't run too hot). Performance and starting improved, but the best I ever get out of my "C" turbo is about 8.5 PSI with EGTs in the 1150F-1200F range...
Devilman96 - That's looking better. Care to share some info on that pump? Who has them, how much do they cost, performance specs? Is it a gear pump?
I've looked at 1000s of pumps on line and can't find the right one yet. There are plenty of diaphragm or eccentric pumps out there that will pump...
Re: RE: Price check on rod bearings, please
Only trouble here is you've got to inspect and the mike crank journals first. If the crank shows any wear (grooves etc.) then you have to get the journals ground and fit undersized bearings (yea, it sounds backwards, the bearings are actually...
