I've seen them once in a while, got two MK1077 flat racks about a year and a half ago to use with MK48s. There's been a couple recently on GL that were torn up a little or missing the whole front where the hook engages. They were reparable and still went pretty high.
Sorry to hear about the ER, paid a visit there myself yesterday- smashed a finger moving furniture I bought from GL for a charity.
Hope your situation is resolved or mending at least.
I would bet that most of the non-runners are an easy fix, but I didn't preview.
After I struck out on the M1120A2 units back east, I got one of the Ft Irwin HETs for just under 10k before GL fees. Description said it runs. These sure looked a lot rougher than most of the ones in Fontana.
I went over 20,000 on one that was set up for a 50 cal before I came to my senses & did my 12 step rituals to snap out of it - the freight to the West coast would have added a bunch more.
They looked very clean and since they were the A2 they had the newer Allison HD4560 transmission with a...
Keep us posted on the install. I bought a few Boyco RG31 MK5 AC units out of Herlong last year when I knew even less about what units best fit what truck. They were originally designed for the MRAP vehicles, hopefully they will work.
With the 395 tires, the top speed is OK, but there are times when it would be nice to run the stock tires and higher speeds when there is more highway driving. The 395's are a waste if the job is all on pavement.
These don't go into California, so we don't have to deal with CARB, but we have...
I agree, I'm sure Edison or GM had the extension engineered, but we don't know what parameters they used. What holds up for the first 500 miles might fatigue & suddenly fail at 600 miles. I'd be more concerned about the amount of tongue weight trying to bend the bolts rather than overall trailer...
I found one of the extensions with pintle still on a truck that has cannibalized for parts. (80's vintage GMC Generals are hard to find) Couldn't get too close because it was covered in vicious blackberry vines & I didn't have a machete with me.
I did get a tape on it though & this one only...
I'm up in Seattle at the moment, but I'll call some guys down there tomorrow & see what they can find.
I'll check up here too, they are still running some of those trucks- 1985 vintage GMC Generals with 6V92 Detroits, Allison trans, jake brake, some even had AC.
The company I worked for bought a bunch of S. Cal. Edison trucks & quite a few of them had extensions for the pintle to get it back past a step on the service body they used. They were a solid hunk of steel with bolt pattern matching the pintle and at extended about 6-8". We took quite a few...
Looks like a nice truck. I have built a couple with the M916A1 trucks and they have worked out great. This one has the 395 tires.
When I looked at upgrading the Allison on a smaller truck to one of the newer models with overdrive, it was VERY expensive, just the electronic control box was over...
Don't know if they would work, but a lot of 86 sight glasses just sold on GL, maybe we will see them here from a vendor.

GL losing the contract is going to make things more complicated - GL for parts & "stuff" and Iron Planet for rolling stock. I thought it was supposed to be a while before the contract changed over though.
When you consider how much it costs to ship some of these bigger vehicles around, it...
is there a name or web site for the Wendover event? I'm looking forward to meeting some of the Utah SS members & MV enthusiasts. I'm up in Seattle the next couple of weeks, so can't make the Stansbury event.
