SF-97 for "Serial Number Unknown" M101A2

Anyone know what the procedure for acquiring an SF-97 is with GL for a trailer with no serial number? I've asked them twice, and the first response I got was "It's the customer's responsibility to inspect prior to bidding"; although I wouldn't need to since the ad said "serial number unknown"...

Anyone headed to Chambersburg, PA for the 7/28 GL auction?

I couldn't tell you, that was my first time there. I was thee when he locked up, and he locked up both yards. I loaded up in the left side, so they must use both now. My misunderstanding was that the guy at the gate told me to pull aside and wait for someone from GL to bring me a vehicle pass...

Anyone headed to Chambersburg, PA for the 7/28 GL auction?

I got there very late today, had a misunderstanding at the gate that cost some time. I guess your loadout went well since I didn't see you when I finally got there at 2... Mine was probably 15 minutes once I reached the lot. Getting there was half the battle...

    Is this a good trade?

I'd trade. But I prefer the 8-lug wheels and brakes. I hauled a 1500lb payload today in traffic and was very happy about brakes on the trailer...

    M35A3 at New Castle

Good to hear you got it home. I always like to hear of drive-home recovery problems ("like" not really the right word), gives me another thing I may not have thought to prep for... I might bid in the next day or so, but I still like living and being married, so probably not... :D Good luck...

Best Way to Disable Inertia Brake?

Also, be mindful of the pin bending... http://www.steelsoldiers.com/trailers/67010-surge-brake-lockout-safety-tip.html

Anyone headed to Chambersburg, PA for the 7/28 GL auction?

I'm scheduled at 1 for non-vehicle stuff. If I see you, I'll definitely come by and chat. I'll be in a Black Tahoe with an M101, just like my profile pic but without the top.

    M35A3 at New Castle

So you're the bugger that outbid me! :-o Did you ever get down to pick it up? I'm picking up other items at New Castle tomorrow. I wish I browsed this forum sooner, I may have been able to take it home and store it for you in PA. I could have them forklift my motorcycle into the bed and drive...

New rule at GL for trailers!!!

You probably have to coordinate with the site manager, but yeah, no EUC you should be good to go. I won a couple non-vehicle things last week, and I'm happy to be going to pick them up tomorrow instead of waiting for a dang EUC to clear.

    My New Trailer

How did you determine the age of the tires? I just moved my only 60's M101a1 yesterday and took a look at one of the tires. I only had a minute, but didn't see any date markings on it. I know modern tires have a coding system, but I've noticed military tires live by their own rules...

    Show me your trailer caps!

Great thread, I can't wait to see what comes up. I was literally just measuring the bed rails yesterday to figure out how much overhang I can get away with on a new top. I want to make a sleeping surface over the left and right bed walls. Then I want to have an alternate cargo top I can drop on...

Potential M101a2 buyer - need assistance

I've picked up (9) 101/116's (116 is the 101 chassis), and all but 1 have been road ready. You wouldn't know that 1 wasn't ready til you got there, though. Another had a worn brake shock, but I didn't know that until after I sold it and became familiar with the symptoms through this site. Not...

    advise

Bob, what would fail on them? I'm not challenging you, I just want to know what to be aware of, I was thinking of converting a few to dump with hydraulics. The drawbar bolts that it pivots on to dump have to be at least strong enough to bear the stop-and-go pulling force, so I wouldn't expect...

    M101A1 Recovery?

If it were me, and it has been a couple times, I'd drive to the lot assuming I can tow it back, with a backup plan if I can't. You have to ask yourself, "What will I do if I get there and can't tow it as-is?" My backup plan is usually asking the lot manager ahead of time if I can reschedule...

    M101 non-military paint schemes

I think my alluded point was that Grey is just the right mix of black and white, so a couple cans of rustoleum and some time to experiment are the path... And I wanted to get a dig in on Behr...
