As everyone knows, the transmission and transfer case have vents that could take on water also. I don't know if they is supposed to be hose extension on my TC, or if they ever had one, but the M1009 and M1031 I have don't have them. I went through some water the day after hurricane Sandy hit...
I'll probably get a warning or a ban for this but, seeing as you rebut most of the good advice that has been given here, you may be more comfortable over at www.coloradoK5.com or www.pirate4x4.com . This site is for the MV, thats Military Vehicle, enthusiast dedicated to the ownership and...
You may be overestimating the capabilities of your 09. Sooner or later, I guarantee you, you will get into a situation where a costly repair or recovery will come into play. You may want to consider getting into a bobbed deuce as you apparenty need something thats a little more heavy duty to...
I would have to agree with 11Echo, The 4.3 would be my choice also. Aside from the crankshaft, it shares almost all the internal parts with the 5.7-350. As far as power goes, they can be built to a 300HP carburated roller engine. With the 4.56 gear ratio, even a stock 4.3 has more HP than the J...
You should be getting far better fuel mileage with the 700-R4 as the engine runs at a lower RPM in 4th and in lockup which is really a 5th gear ratio. Im getting almost 25 mpg with the 700-R4 and 285 R16 tires. Exactly what stock size tires are you running? You may need taller tires. Downstate...
Note- You may or may not have to drill bolt holes in the frame to install the lower mounts. Be very carefull, as there may be steel brake lines inside the frame rails. they were exactly where I had to drill 5/8 holes on my 1031 when I installed my fisher setup. I bent them slightly, and re...
No! You need the shackle to move as the springs compress and return to a neutral position. It also provides the suspension some flex when going over uneven surfaces. You probably won't be able to bolt it up that way anyway. If your springs are tired, new ones are really not that expensive, and...
:ditto: A must have in the northern states. I have a 600w heater timed from 4 hrs prior to startup. If you have a long run from your truck to a power source, use a 12ga extension cord and an appliance duty timer. Way faster warmups and less wear and tear is a good thing.
I disagree with using a pickle fork on a steering box. My 2000 S15 Jimmy had front end work done on it prior to my purchasing it. When I drove it home, it was all over the road. When I first test drove it, the drive was on local streets at low speeds and went un noticed. On the highway, it would...
No one is bashing you. Just get your truck straightend out for the safety of yourself, and others. some advice, do not hammer or use a pickle fork on the pitman arm, you can break the internals of the steering box. Always use a puller to remove the pitman arm.
Dude! Just becuase there is no wobble does not mean the front end is in alignment. Something is bent, broken, or out of adjustment. I know you are having fun with your truck, and thats great! You should really consider having it looked at by a reputable front end shop to be on the safe side...
dragonmaster1369, Running these old trucks at more than 60 mph without modification is asking for trouble. To achive highway speeds, adding taller tires, an overdrive trans, or changing the axle ratio is the only way to get to get the engine RPM's low enough to avoid damage.
The 4.56 gear...
