M1009 - Problem removing rear axle.

I'm reviving this old thread because I have a similar problem. I need to change an axle seal and after removing the screw that holds the shaft it wouldn't move like the above poster. The screw is not broken is the difference. I hit it lightly to get it moving and it came out about 2 inches and...

    hmmwv tow bar

Does anyone have one of these mounted on your HMMWV and could give a few pics on how it attaches? Can you use it with the folding grille guard? Thanks

No shortage of M998s for GP/IP

and there will be few of those left as they rust away, or get bobbed as the M35's did and do.

Looking for CUCV for sale in Reno, NV

CUCV's are not built the same. The Blazers have a different drivetrain from the pickups. The pickups are geared low and a turbo would help with heavy loads, but not do anything to increase your top speed. The huge drum brakes work well for the truck as designed. Disc brakes are better with...

    Govplanet Sales Tax

My experience is... GP will charge you sales tax, because they have a blanket policy to charge you. Their tax expert is only adept at reading you their policy. They know little about the individual states sales tax laws because that would take some effort. It is easier to charge the tax and have...

    M1009 towing capacity question

I think the military rated it for off road limits. The problem I had was more weight behind pushing me around from behind at speeds over 45. The hitch never gave me any problem, but I was gentle with it.

The Centipede aka my new 1988 m35a2c

Nice looking truck! It is really a plus to have good neighbors. I had to hide my deuces and 5 ton because I had a neighbor complaining to the authorities, and even tho he said the county misunderstood him, once the compliance dept got started they don't stop and they have a ordinance for...

can a deuce ever be very reliable?

I just brought a M35 deuce home this morning that had been sitting about 8 years, dead batteries and not started the entire time. It had sunk into the ground almost to the axles. On the way the throttle return spring broke giving me full throttle when I didn't want it. It just so happens that...

can a deuce ever be very reliable?

Along those lines about your neighborhood not liking your military vehicles......I may be an army of one, but I consider knitting and crocheting to be a disgusting waste of time. It should be banned! My county needs a new ordinance, they do not have this atrocious behavior covered yet(everything...

    Doghead Starter Relay Mod Question

I had my 1st relay go out recently and would have bought the one posted above in a heartbeat. Mine would no longer make a connection. Didn't lose any smoke thankfully. I want a relay that when it does fail (all things do) it acts like a burnt fuse and doesn't weld the contacts and continue to...

Glow plug controller fuse on M1009

It was the ignition switch. I had worked it yesterday, but not enough. Today we sprayed it with brake cleaner, and worked it on and off for 5 minutes, re-connected the batteries and after a few more tries got power to the pink wire on the GPR. After that, and a ten second wait, she started right...

Glow plug controller fuse on M1009

OK, my next question is where is the source of power for the pink wire on the GP relay? It sounds like I'm barking up the wrong tree. I don't have power to the pink wire(or blue). I thought the controller supplied the voltage, but it only completes the circuit. The key switch does work when it...

Glow plug controller fuse on M1009

Thanks to both of you guys. I couldn't get any voltage to either terminal that actuates the GPS, and it remains silent when the key turns on. It does have power to it waiting to be switched. I did check the engine control fuse and it is good and I did clean it with no effect. Now that I know...

Glow plug controller fuse on M1009

I don't think the controller would blow a fuse in the fuse box but I'm thinking a badly corroded fuse might be the problem. Maybe a temp sensor is keeping the glow plugs off. Any ideas are welcome. The TM doesn't address where the fuse is for the glow plug module. Thanks

Glow plug controller fuse on M1009

Which one is it in the fuse box? The M1009 has been sitting and I think there is a corrosion/continuity problem as it ran when parked. The controller isn't supplying power to the GP relay so I'm not getting any power to the glow plugs. The card itself doesn't seem to be the issue. I don't think...

CUCVs on base. How many left?

Now when one shows up at auction there are many eyes looking at the one truck, and the good ones that do show are few. You also see guys restoring some pretty rough rigs, because of demand.

    Quieter, Better MPG 6.2 Diesel.

I see where I could be easily fooled either way from the test and by this video. This is an anti additive video. Very likely if I believe either, I have been scammed. Thanks for the eye opener. From now on I'm only going to believe the pretty girl with next to nothing on when she tells me what...

    Quieter, Better MPG 6.2 Diesel.

There was a guy out here years ago that sold something called CE-10. He had a demo he would show you of running regular oil, and running regular oil mixed with a few drops of CE-10. He had a lever that he would add weight to, that put pressure on metal to metal contact. With very little weight...
