Ok, I'm a wrench, not a sparky. I have been going over how to hook up a MEP-016b/MEP-701a for 240v single phase. My head hurts.
I have reviewed related threads and the TMs and get what look to me to be conflicting information.
At one point it states;

There isn't enough room to remove the stator without getting into removing the engine, or unbolting from it etc..
I was able to find a gear puller that would fit. It's a Chinese POS so I had to replace the bolts with decent ones. The originals would strip really easy.

Ok, I have the housing moved as far as it's going.
The bearing is accessible, sort of, the snap ring is off but the bearing will not budge off the shaft.
Any ideas on how to remove it or how to hold it in the housing so when I pull on the housing the bearing will stay in it and not on the...
New style gravity feed adapters for Plastic fuel cans..
They have a 1/4 fip fitting on the isnide you can attached a pickup tube to..
I used fuel line with a fitting on the bottom for a weight..
You can get these on ebay.
Old style jerry can adapter..
Much shorter than the drum adapter.
Not sure but I think if you use only 1/2 of the drum adapter pickup you can use it on a fuel can also..
Here is what I did...
The fittings to work with it as is are hard to find.
I removed the fitting that was in it. Then you can use standard 1/4 MIP fittings..
The quick release is off an Arctic Strove kit..
