    Deuce Brakes??

Re: RE: Deuce Brakes?? Mike, sorry, I still disagree. We are trying to avoid accidentally staring Pumbi's engine, not deliberately start it. If you are pulling or pushing a car or pickup truck 20 mph or so to start it, I agree on using high gear. But Pumbi is talking about rolling his truck...

    Deuce Brakes??

Re: RE: Deuce Brakes?? Best idea yet, just make sure the engine stop is pulled all the way out as Joel mentioned, and keep it moving VERY slowly. The Deuce engine WILL run in reverse, not a good situation for the engine. The hydraulic brakes WILL work without air assist, not real well but...

    M35 Fiberglass Tops

I have HEARD, but not been able to verify, that UPS WILL ship a Deuce hardtop. I doubt they are real thrilled to do so, but at least one SS member said he got his shipped via UPS. I don't know how to verify if this is fact though. Can anyone else chime in with more insight on UPS's willingness...

    Front lifting shackles?

If you have too many to use personally, I could use a front shackle, pin and attaching chain and securing clip for my Deuce . When I picked my truck at at the DRMO it had only one shackle and I was not smart nor dishonest enough to snag another one from one of the other trucks there. Thanks, Lee

    Inch by Inch!

!. The old clamps should work very well, unless they are somehow damaged, which is extremely unlikey. l2.Can't really comment on the bearings and cups. Unless they have been running rough and noisy, they should be OK. I'd have at least one spare set of inner and outer seals on head, just in...

M35A2 starter and "5 ton" starter the same???

I love air starters, they sound do cool when cranking up. Of course, if you have only one Deuce (or one big Green MV with air power), then you are generally screwed with an air starter. Yes, they sound really cool when starting, but without a really GOOD supply of air, especially in cold...

    M35 Fiberglass Tops

Terry - Let us know what you get for prices from SECO and John, including shipping. Up here in NW Michigan, wintertime temps vary from below freezing to below zero. Not real comfortable to drive with a soft top and 1" - 2" gaps at the top and rear of both side side windows. I'd consider new...

    Tools

Harbor Freight has a great selection of tools - Electrical mutlitesters, diesel compression testers, cylinder balance testers, etc. Still would like a good, working complete STE ICE tool though! Ziggy - Keep me in mind when you get yours, haven't heard from the guy on this list selling one, so I...

M35A2 starter and "5 ton" starter the same???

Air starters sure sound cool on startup! First time I heard one start (as a relative youngster) it scared the crap out of me! But as mentioned, you need a GOOD supply of air when you start or you are really screwed. They need a healthy supply of air to get an engine started. Don't know how well...

    Ring Mount Question

Don't know about your ARNG days, but we ALWAYS had TWO trucks with convoy lights in our unit - the lead TRUCK was equipped with convoy lights and a "Convoy Follows" sign, the trail truck was equipped with convoy lights and a "Convoy Ahead" sign. Can't tell you too much about the convoy itself...

Wow! Looks great. I just wish I had the buck$ to but a set of 15:50s and convert my wheels. Looks like it would make for a great set of super singles!

    Baaaaaaaateries!!!!!

Anyone here have a line on where to get the DTMA battery additive? From the many articles I have read, this stuff is the best stuff since sliced bread and extends battery life almost indefinitely.

12 volt system with 24 volt starter

Albion - I apologize for the somewhat abusive reply, but I did not understand your intent from the original post. 12V starters ARE apparently available as mentioned in the above post, so you could either go with either a 12 v or 24 v starter. Just remember as mentioned above, all your 12...

12 volt system with 24 volt starter

Why bother? The military 24V system has worked fine for 57+ years. Why F**k with something that doesn't need to be F****d with? The civvy world was fine with 6V systems for some 60 or so years. Then some bright light bulb turned them on to 12V systems (several years AFTER the military world...

    pulling M816 onto concrete slab?

Got to agree with Nickd. The best combination is 6" of concrete with rebar and fiber over 6" of crushed stone (not gravel or sand, either of those will absorb moisture and heave during freezing weather). Also for you next job, place heavy plastic sheeting over the crushed stone before you pour...

12 volt system with 24 volt starter

I think you need to take a few more Prozac and then reconsider what you are doing. Other than the cost of 24V bulbs, the 24 volt system has worked quite well for nearly 60 years. Why f**k with something which doesn't need fixing? A little more explanation is needed here before you can expect a...
