    929A2 Dump Truck problems

Get it shipped. Driving an unknown truck is an adventure, and that could be good or bad. Be careful. I had a friend who drove an M35A2 home from Charleston, SC. Well, once he got it home we looked it over. Most of the bolts were either missing or loose on the steering box.

    CUCV four color MERDC camo?

Awesome job on the paint. I love the 4 color camo.

    .

I'd be curious to hear which trucks were fitted with them.

    Alaska Deuces

Fuel burning cab heater. I don't believe a standard hot water heater will be able to keep up with the cold. The fuel burning heater kit comes with transmission and t-case canvas shifter boots so that will help to eliminate those drafts. Also, a hard top would be nice.

    Dead Transmission on M923A1

Where did you find a rebuilt transmission for an M939 series truck for that price? That is a great price. If you can share the source (maybe through a PM), I'd be grateful. Thanks.

809 or 939 series trying to decide

I NEVER thought I'd say this because I have been an M939 series fan since before they were coming out and especially, since 2001 when I bought my first. I'd suggest an M809 series truck.

    CUCV four color MERDC camo?

Contact CUCVFAN. He actually owns an M1009 with the original MERDC scheme. The cool thing about his truck is that he believes it might be the first production M1009 CUCV off the assembly line based upon the VIN.

    Please clean your chimneys

The key is to burn seasoned, good hardwood and let the fires burn hot (before banking them back later). No pine or other heavy-creosote-producing woods. I burn oak, maple, and locust mainly. Lastly, chimneys should be swept every cord of wood that is burned through a fireplace. I have been...

    M923A2 Won't Stop Building Air

I am betting it is the governor. The compressor is a "dumb" piece of equipment in that it just produces air pressure when "told" to do so by the governor.

The good and the bad of owning something tracked and/or armored?

I've owned two M548s...I ended up selling both. While I regret selling the last one with 24 original hours (12 when I bought it), I sold them because it gets old driving one around on the same small plot of land. I actually had access to about a 15 acre field on a large farm (the other fields...

Need Help On CTIS Hub Seals 923A2

Thanks for the reply. I was only asking because I have found all sorts of bizarre stuff with trucks rebuilt there.

Need Help On CTIS Hub Seals 923A2

I am sorry I cannot help, but I am curious...is this a RRAD rebuild?

    M923a2 weak point.

What kind of tree is it? Pine? I would not worry too much? Hardwood like an oak or maple, call in the tree experts. If you do try it, make sure people stand clear of the chain.

Brand New MRAPS Being Scrapped - A Sad Day

That is incorrect, at least when I have asked about American armored vehicles overseas. For whatever reason, once an American armored vehicle leaves the country, you can't get it back in. There probably are exceptions, but this has been the rule that I have been told. I tried to get an M113...

Where Are All The 5 Ton Dump Trucks Going?

The dumps tend to bring good money. There are dealers trying to peddle them, but there are not a lot of people who want to pay the premium that GL brings (plus 10% bidders fee and tax) PLUS the dealer's profit margin. Go check any of the dealers; there is a reason they don't move many at...

5 ton Buying tips-Help for Newbies-What to look for and what to be prepared to fix.

Have you ever heard someone say that it is better to see a truck/car/boat/etc. before the owner did his quickie restoration job on it thereby hiding the truck's/car's/boat's/etc. flaws? Well, that is the problem with inspecting a rebuilt truck. EVERYTHING looks good. Check out the motors...

I have read a lot not sure to buy

I am not at all impressed with the rebuilt trucks that have come out. Things seem to be half-a**ed. This is coming from a guy who owns several of them right now. I prefer the original M939 series trucks that I own over the rebuilds. Sure, the rebuilds have some nice features, but I have been...

5 ton Buying tips-Help for Newbies-What to look for and what to be prepared to fix.

Make sure you inspect. Assume you will have work to do no matter how nice the truck looks...and possibly especially with the rebuilt trucks. I am not going to divert this thread by posting horror stories that I and others have stated, but I will summarize those posts by saying that there were...

    MY new truck M934.Info needed.

I almost never go with synthetic. I have read that it is better and lasts longer, but I am not sure that most of us would notice with the limited mileage/kilometers that we drive our trucks. However, some guys swear by it. With that said, I use only synthetic in my Mercedes daily driver, but...
