Hey TJP, Looks like you got a pretty good start and it's looking good so far. One thing you might wanna seriously consider is some spacers between the 105 bed and the truck frame. By setting it up off the frame by 6 or 8 inches, you'll give yourself room to service the in-tank fuel pump without...
I like the half-tube with the tag and padlock on the fuel cutoff. That would definately slow down a potential thief, but you just have to keep in mind, locks aren't for stopping thieves, they're for keeping honest people honest! [thumbzup]
That's a good question Chief.
And since we're on the subject of rules clarification: No zombie threads? What's that about? I'm not tryin to be a smarta,.......er uh wiseguy here, but were there that many people having rediculous conversations about zombies, or is this a metaphore I'm not clear...
Great vids and I have to agree with the others when I say that is some pretty country! I'd love to spend some time up there listening to the music of nature. Now is it just me, or does that whistler in the first video sound almost non-existant untill near the end when it gets louder and clearer...
If you're gonna use the M105 trailer sub-frame method, removing the bogie plates from the castings and leaving them on the truck frame rails makes lining up and squaring the sub-frame a bit easier. Sinse you've already removed them, you can re-locate them and bolt them on to line up other parts...
I saw that one on ebay a few months ago and I believe I saved a couple of the pics from the ad. I liked the A3 front fenders for extra lighting positions. Looks pretty spiffy! I'm not too crazy about eating up cargo space in the bed with the fuel tank, but otherwise, it's a nice truck...
I personally havn't been to a GL auction but I can tell you they can be found on craigslist at various prices. Sometimes pretty cheap and highly workable. Good luck and have fun! :driver:
Basically, when you mount a transmit antenna on a vehicle, the metal mass of the vehicle becomes what's called the "ground plane". The signal reflects off the ground plane of any antenna, therefore the signal is stronger in the direction of the offset ground plane. Back in the 80s, before the...
Just keep in mind, if you put the antenna on the front of the truck, the majority of your transmit signal will go to the rear. If you mount the antenna in the rear, your signal will go forward. :driver:
When hauling 2 trailers like that, I wonder if anyone ever got a flat on the bottom one and tried to flip the whole mess over rather than just swap a wheel with the top trailer. Temporary cases of cerebral flatulence can make some people do silly things! Not that I would expect anyone to admit...
Most of the time a problem like that will come back to a bad connection or a broken wire in the microphone. Pick up another mic or borrow one from a friend and plug it into your radio and try it. If it turns out to be a bad mic, take the 2 screws that hold the clamp on the cord at the plug and...
I don't know if they made one in 24v or not, but you would think an Army version would have it with most MVs being 24v, I would think it would be common sense. lol
That's a big and expensive job, I'm looking forward to seeing those pics! Good luck and don't succum to the temptation to cut corners. You'll be much more proud of the results. [thumbzup]
Being a purist when dealing with MVs is difficult at best when the military made changes to these things right out of the gate! Is it considered more pure if it's restored to the exact condition and parts as turned out by the factory, or is it more pure to have it set up exactly as the unit it...
