    Gear oil compatability

I contacted my Car Quest rep again --- he made a second call to Valvolene and spoke with another tech about the 5 gallons of GL-5 that I was concerned about. The second Valvolene Tech confirmed that the pail of GL-5 that I have is also MT-1 --- yellow metal compatible.

    Really Weird Wireing Problem

RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: Really Weird Wireing Problem m-35tom wrote: In the summer I don't have a problem pulling 180 degrees even WITH the water pump fan connected. In the winter, with the water pump fan connected, the LDS engine runs warmer than the old LDT but still won't built sufficient heat...

    Tight Valves --- Loose Valves

We idled the engine down --- I hope my headlights are still intact. I agree with cbvet --- it's a lot easier to adjust while running.

    Tight Valves --- Loose Valves

After approximately 500 miles on the new engine I thought it best to check the valve settings. I was a little reluctant given that it's a new engine with only 500 miles but I'm glad I did. All the exhaust valves were tight --- tight enough to cause valve problems. Several of the intake valves...

Why Ole Santa Drives A Hot Rod Deuce

Thank you Elwenil for helping keep the conversation respecable. These ladys are either wives or daughters of friends. It's not often that an old bald headed fat man finds himself in such pleasant company --- I couldn't resist posting. They are all very respectable so please keep it civil. We...

    Really Weird Wireing Problem

I don't have a schematic with me --- all is can say is that it is a simple system. The only thing we did that wasn't in the original schematic was to add the tell-tale dash light. The tell-tale light would come on ever so dim as the engine gained speed until it was bright and then gradually go...

RE: Re: more pics M342 Hello Bill, Take a look at this thread --- it should walk you right through the swap. http://www.steelsoldiers.com/index.php?name=PNphpBB2&file=viewtopic&t=13265&postdays=0&postorder=asc I ended up going to Memphis Equipment for the oil pan plumbing tubes. When I...

    Really Weird Wireing Problem

I want to share this recent problem with anyone that has installed, or plans to install an electric cooling fan on their truck. As most know, I installed and have made several "electric fan" posts on SS in the past. It works great in the winter. Without the constantly running water pump fan...

    Grenade Shifter

RE: Gernade Shifter We silver soldered a nut the size of the gear shift rod on the top of the pineapple where the fuse originally screwed in. There was a hole drilled in the bottem that was capped with arc weld and ground smooth. I was afraid to keep the old fuse and spoon assembly intact for...

    Renaming the Bobbed Deuce???

As someone that owns close to 100 Internet URLs I try to choose a name that is compatible with an available .com URL. It's getting harder and harder to do as URLs, especially the .com URLs, are snatched up. Because you might someday want to build a website around your project and therefore...

    Light Switch Warm

We were hooking up (wireing) the lights on an 18ft trailer I have today when I happened to notice that the deuce light switch was a little warm. The trailer was hooked up and we had turned the lights on and off a few times. Is it normal for the switch to get a little warm? It wasn't hot but...

    Grenade Shifter

I couldn't resist doing this (see pics) I tightened it down with a wrench so I can't remove it my hand. I was afraid is I didn't I wouldn't be able to resist handing it to the next cop that stops me and saying, "Here, hold this while I look for the pin!"
