    fuel heater

No heater...how about not giving someone incorrect info, if you dont know what you're talking about. There is a fuel heater in the filter base! TM 9-2320-289-34 Schematic ; E-20

Help. Need glow plug removal tool cucv

Wow..that totally sucks. I was thinking of putting those Wellmans in my M1009 as the AC60's take twice as long to heat up. But if they are prone to swelling, then I think I'll pass.

Hard to start... what say you is the problem?

Here's how I test my glowplugs; pull all wires, take a test light, connect to the pos battery terminal, touch test light to each plug, if it doesn't light up, its dead. As for the fuel draining back, I had a similiar brain wracking problem, turned out to be a faulty fuel cap. When you park at...

    leaking diff M1009

Last September I had my axle seals replaced as they were both leaking, so cover was off and new fluid installed. Now I have a little leak showing from one of the lower diff cover bolts. A guy I spoke to told me to remove it part way withought taking it right out, cleaning the bolt and using "the...

    13G glow plugs

I originally had the 13G's in my M1009, they swell and cant be removed easily. A friend of mine who had the same curse, ordered the tool to extract swollen glowplugs, worked like a charm. Put in the AC60G's they have worked great for over 2 years, they just need a longer glow cycle. As my truck...

    Parts ID

Thanks....Found a part number for the brake shoes in one of the CUCV manuals, cross referenced it and found out what size they are.

    Parts ID

Need to get some parts for my 86 M1009....Rear brake shoes, apparently there are 2 different sizes. Anyone know what the dimensions are? I also need a steering box, is there anything different about this CUCV item compared to a civvy?

    Transmission woes

For a few months now on my 86 M1009 I've noticed a whirring type sound, particularly up hill in second, coming from the tranny, which wasn't present before. Now it seems that its toast, serious driveability issues to say the least. I barely made it home today. It started shifting from second...

    Turn signal

Well, picked up a new heavy duty flasher unit, that fixed the turn signals. Looked at the front running light/turn signal, the metal tab inside the bulb socket has broken off where it's supposed to contact the metal bulb casing. Will have to pick up a new one tomorrow, in the interim I'll...

    Turn signal

On my 86 M1009, all of a sudden my left turn signal doesn't flash. Replaced bulbs, still nothing. Looks like there is only one flasher for both sides and my right works fine. When I put my park lights on, the rear left is lit up but not my side marker and my turn signal-running light has a faint...

    Testing glow plugs

Recently my M1009 motor has run a little rough for a 5-10 seconds on a cold morning start, made me wonder if one or two plugs have failed. Had the AC60's in for a few years, no problems. Seemed to remember a testing method was to use a test light connected to battery positive and place tip on...

    Reverse light

Changed the column on my 86 M1009, now I have no reverse or backup lights. Was told its the switch on bottom upper side of column that doubles as neutral switch. Is this correct? How would I go about adjusting this? Anyone had this experience?

CUCV shifting HARD hanging on to gears far too long.

My M1009 had the same symptoms, the vacuum regulator has failed, its the black plastic unit on the side of the IP with all the rubber vacuum lines coming out of it. Quick ad hoc fix that I did was to switch the lines around on the unit so that the line coming out of the vacuum pump is connected...

    Voltmeter!

So, after obtaining another resistor for my failed voltmeter, checked the resistance ,they both are good. Checked voltmeter on battery, reads voltage. As everything appears to work, where does the wiring connect to the 24 volt system?, l assume thats the last thing that it could be.

    Tilt Column woes

Not bad at all,the install was easy, just take out standard column and tilt unit goes back same way. Did it because it was offered for $70.00 and had intermittent wipers.

    Tilt Column woes

Zo, decided to replace the steering column in my 86 M1009 with a tilt column. Problem is the spring that holds the gearshift lever is broken, so it kind of flops around. Quite annoying as I have to use 2 hands to turn the key. Found spring in stock at local dealer.I can take out the pin, remove...

    Ignition switch

Dropping the steering Column to access ignition switch, apparently I'm told it goes down so far as to rest on the seat, removed the 2 bolts, still only went down a few inches. Removed the plate on firewall, makes no difference. What gives here? Do I have to remove the 2 bolts on engine...

    Ignition switch

All of a sudden my kignition cylinder no longer turns far enough to engage the starter. Had to jump starter terminals to get home. I understand there is a rod that passes through steering column and engages ignition switch. I can hear it move, is the ignition switch the white plastic unit on top...

    Gen 1 light

Once again the Gen 1 light on my M1009 is not coming on. Had it rebuilt in January, is this a regulator replacement issue?, I'm told its a common occurence. If so, is there a heavy duty regulator for the 100 AMP ALT? Heres an update: went to the shop that rebuilt alt, they did some tests and...

    Starter rebuild kits?

I just had to rebuild the starter on my M1009 as it was shot also. Apparently its just the solenoid thats 24 V. Walked up to the counter at the local auto parts store, rebuild kit is a common item, cost me 40 bucks. Came with bendix, brushes and bearings.I'm sure you could just buy the bendix...
