My volt gauge hasn't worked for over a year. Like to try that resistor fix. What are the values for that resistor, ohm's, watts etc...not having any luck asking for a 12v resistor here.

Just dealt with starter woes on my 86 M1009. Starter was so worn that bearings were gone,bendix was weak. Got a rebuild kit for 40 bucks, has brushes, bendix, bearings etc. Very fast cranking now. Seems like most of these CUCV's have shot starters.

Might be a faulty fuel cap. Get it running, when you shut it off open cap to release pressure or vacuum,put it back on. In he morning if it fires, theres your problem. Drill a tiny hole thru cap or replace it. I had this happen on my M1009 took weeks of checking everything before I figured it...

The Volt meter unfortunately stopped working a year ago, still haven't found a replacement. Have to try that resistor mod I saw on a post here. Anyways 86 M1009...will look at the relay.

Jones you were right. It was a rear u-joint on transfer case side. Needle bearings were being crushed inside cap causing squeek. Easy fix...they were the original u-joints ..94,000 miles, replaced both with greasable units.

Replaced both of mine several years ago. Had the window out as you have to use a small scewdriver on back side of seal to ease out the clips that hold the old seal in. New one just slides into place.

Yes it worked just fine for 2 years,then zero.So is this a CUCV specific gauge,ie not available from a dealer.I was told its 28 volt.All the parts vehicles I have access to have already had theirs removed!apparently this is common.anyone know where one could be sourced cheap?
