    Looking for the female...

    Object on humvee wheel

Winch is definitely not the primary reason. Same purpose as M151 M715 etc, you move the rear tie down shackles to the wheel end to provide a tie down point on rail cars, airdrop pallets, C130/C17 etc. That “winch” idea comes from a WWII era FM.

Things to know purchasing 1951 bantam m416/m100

Its (edit:not) a M100. 416s have angular fenders. Maybe you can find a modern trailer axle that matches your Jeep’s lug pattern so you don’t need a second spare tire. Edit: see below post, it’s a WW2 era MB-T.

New to me 1984 M1010 Engine Question #1

When was your injection pump last rebuilt? If you have good clean fuel coming to the IP and the return line is clear, the plastic parts inside your IP are wearing out.

M923 A1 Axle Question & Prep For Long Drive

All era 5 tons have always been grease lubricated wheel bearings. Suggest you follow the lube order. Suggest you use conventional moly EP grease on the bearings, nothing "tacky" lest something stick together off in the hub.

The Rise and Fall of the Humvee?

The only part of the HMMWV that needs to “sunset” is the 6.5. Hell even the Russian Tigr uses the 6BT.
