What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Finally changed the leaking rear wheel seal and speedi-sleeved it to keep it from happening again.

    1008 lift

I've got Moto Metal 951 rims that I got off Craigslist a few years ago. I sanded and painted them flat black. The tires are Interco SSM16 37x13.5x17

    My new to me M1028

Your vibration at 53 is probably a tire imbalance.

    My new to me M1028

Will it make the sound when the engine is revving and trans is in neutral? Or the engine is under load and the truck is not moving?

I'll have to get pic of it later today for you. Ha ha. Then Rumplecat can compare to see if its the same yellow as his.

    M1008 with a Yellow Nose?

My M1028 has paint flaking off all over and the yellow is showing through. It was stationed at Camp Roberts so I'm guessing it was a flight line safety vehicle or crash fire rescue vehicle.

    My new to me M1028

No need to measure, I was just wondering. How did the deuce drive with the CUCV loaded on it?

    1008 lift

For straight bolt on stuff you can do like Gripy did or like I did. I went with a 4" skyjacker softride kit. Its all springs- no blocks. Its a little softer of a ride than Gripy's truck, but he should have slightly more load capacity. However I have carried a few heavy loads with no issues. So...

    My new to me M1028

Sorry to be a little off topic, but how long is the bed of your deuce? That pic is awesome! How did you get it up there, a loading ramp?

    CUCV suburban?, or converted. PICS

I don't recall the CUCV's having drip rails either. I know mine doesn't have em. I'm gonna vote it's a clone.

    Two batteries, one tray.

Is that the dual battery tray that optima makes?

    Two batteries, one tray.

Actually using a regulary shaped battery would make it easier to build too. No strange round shapes, just nice straight edges!

Cool. Good info. I'll have to look into that before I buy another one.

Hey Marcus, They are Optima 34-78's. Ratings: 1,000 CA 800 CCA 100 RC If you look in the pics I really just used the stock battery tray and welded the new plate on top. They ended up being slightly wider than the stock battery tray, but there is still plenty of room between the battery and the...

    Differences between M923A2 and M925A2

Yeah I saw that one and was wondering that too. I figured the military added/ changed some equipment sometime after delivery. But the data plate says M923A2 so it's a little confusing.

    Two batteries, one tray.

Yeah the placement is better and the lighter weight helps a lot too. If I remember correctly they are group 34s. I can find out for sure for you Tuesday night.

    Two batteries, one tray.

I put 2 optimas in the front tray to clear up room for a turbo. I think it came out pretty nice. Here is the link to the post with more pics. You could do basically the same thing on the rear tray instead of the front...
