Looks like my engine bay! Ha ha. And it's been like that for a few years. I'll low pressure rinse it once in a while, but it's no show truck so it doesn't need a power wash.
Thanks. The transmission shop that rebuilt the 4L80 got me the appropriate converter. If I remember correctly the brand was "The converter shop" or something similar. You will want a converter designed for the diesel because the one for a gas engine will have a higher stall speed. GM did put...
My boss used to warn customers who asked for a transmission fluid flush after never doing one for 100k + miles because quite often the trans would start slipping shortly after. The sticky gunk that was holding it all together would get washed out. Ha ha.
And as MarcusOReallyus said, LEDs only need a few volts to run at their best efficiency- bulb brightness + bulb life.
Have you ever seen the OEM led lights on vehicles and a section of LEDs are out? This is because it's cheaper to wire in a few bulbs in series and then a smaller resistor is...
If they are 12v only lights, then they are not wired to handle more than 12v. So 24v will make the LEDs burn brighter, however the life of the LED will be greatly reduced.
If the light is designed to run on 12v or 24v (usually says something like 9-26v) then the lights are wired with the...
Quoted from West Coast Differentials:
"Open Differentials
An open differential allows both tires to spin at different speeds. This is perfect on dry pavement when the vehicle corners and the axles turn at different speeds, but it doesn’t work very well when one or both tires lose traction. In...
:funny:
I think he wants a pic of you modeling with your turbo/manifold/head combo! Ha ha
BTW: thanks for the tip. Maybe I'll be able to use it someday if I ever get around to installing the turbo.
The top 2 plastic mounting straps for my external transmission cooler broke, allowing it to hang and move around. This caused the bottom 2 straps to wear a hole into the radiator causing a small leak. So I got the radiator repaired and decided it was finally time to replace all the hoses and...
Another vote for u-joints here. That's probably the best place to look first. Just jack up the front end and make sure the hubs are unlocked and you can easily check their condition. As long as someone didn't install a locker in the front axle it shouldn't break anything driving on pavement...
Here's an article with another stealthy winch install. I am going to use this as a guideline when I install mine.

None that we found! I found out that I didn't sink by not stopping enough before the wet area then I just slid another 100 feet or so out. Since I didn't get stuck I decided to just keep sliding around. It was a blast!
