Yea, I hear ya on the fuel pump... At least you don't have a Banks kit on it, changing the pump on my Sub was a real :soapbox:...
Hopefully you didn't chew up the flexplate too badly.

Joe
If you have 13 ohms between the ground stud and the case, then that is not an isolated ground alternator. Did you purchase the alternator from a chain store or did it come with the truck? The system will not work with a non-isolated ground alternator on the passenger's side. The driver's side is...
Yep, but be careful bypassing the filter if you don't know the condition of the fuel in the tank. I'd get one of those cheap inline filters for the test and just use it to join the inlet and outlet lines.
If that does turn out to be the problem, this website has the filter assemblies (the...
Yea, if the fuel pump checks out, that's the next likely culprit. But given that the previous owner described both hot and cold starting problems, the first thing I suspect is the fuel pump.
Oh, and the problem you describe is usually the fuel pressure sensor in the filter block.

Guessing from his username that it's a 1008 and sounds like it's still a 24V system.
Did you replace the Alternator in question? If so, where did you purchase it? If it's not a military specific unit, then it's probably a non isolated ground alt like Warthog said and that will cause your direct...
The description of the procedure is in the -20 under Mechanical Troubleshooting: Engine cranks but won't start. Table 2-3 Section 15 Step 6.

Don't trust the factory VM, get a multimeter and check the voltage to see what it's actually putting out. The factory VM can be very inaccurate.

Ok, if this comes out sounding patronizing or like I am being snippish I apologize, but did you read the wiring diagram instead of the parts manual? I realize that that component is called a 'Neutral Safety Switch', and in a civilian vehicle that's what it would be used for, but it only turns...
Yea, I'd bet it was.
On to the problem at hand. I'd bet that the transmission or torque converter is seized up somehow and that's causing the engine to stall when it's moved out of park. To make sure it's not electrical, put a test light on the pink IP wire and see if it shuts off when the...
Congratulations. I'm glad that it started out for you and now it's running. Definitely get those GPs replaced soon so they don't take out the controller card. Other than that, have fun enjoying your new CUCV.
BTW, if you haven't figured it out yet, as long as it gets up to temp, it should start...
Where are you checking for voltage for the glow plugs? Did you check all 8 plugs to make sure they are all working?
And no, there are no safety switches on a CUCV. If the pink wire has 12V and the solenoid in the pump clicks when power is applied and removed, then it should be getting fuel...
I care, but I already got an electronic copy of the manuals. I can tell you there is an EOD version of the SECM body and I'd almost bet that it is flagged because of that.
I can also tell you that there is nothing in either manual that pertains to explosives, EOD specific equipment, or tactics...
You probably broke the plates, but you can see if they'll take a charge. It's worth a try to see if you can salvage an otherwise junk battery, but I wouldn't try it with a battery in service.
I'd recommend buying a desulfating battery charger. They're not that much more expensive than a normal...
Nice score, looks like the only damage was the little forklift rash on the pass fender. I'll bet that's why your rear u-joint failed too. All of the fluids were supposed to be drained when it was turned in since it was an inop vehicle.
The faulty vacuum connections at the IP are probably the...
The oil sampling valve is on all of the trucks that I've seen but I don't know if it was a mid-contract change or was added while in service through a MWO. That was done so that the Army could extend the oil change intervals through testing.
The frame reinforcement is supposed to be on both...
My 1008 had a busted starter bolt when I got it. So I tried to drill it and failed, but stopped before I got into the block, and paid a shop $160 to do it for me. Best money I ever spent on the truck... LOL
Did you buy the AC Delco bolts from GM? If not, my recommendation is to take them back...
