Do you have the TM for the SECM body? If not, drop me a PM or you can go to the LOGSA website and download it. The number is 9-4940-421-14
I extracted the Start circuit from the wiring diagram in the TM. There are very few components in the circuit that could fail and prevent the unit from...
M1009s have 3.08 geared 10 Bolt axles
M1008s have 4.56 geared Dana 60 Front/Corp 14 Bolt Rear axles.
I traded my 1008's 4.56 geared axles for 4.10 geared axles straight across to someone who just wanted the deeper gearing for his off roader.
M1008 axles will not bolt up to a 1009 without...
Are you planning to restore it to 24V or are you converting to 12? If converting to 12, then no. Just hook the purple wire to the purple/white wire to get the starter to work. You won't need the Gen 2 feed so you can ignore that and you can hook a voltmeter the standard way without the relay...
I played around with lift towing as well with my 816, much easier than flat towing for longer distances. The height of the boom makes some difference in how stable the truck is, I raised my boom shipping braces up to the next set of holes.
I thought I remembered some kind of table which listed...
My 816's rear controls are frozen as well, luckily mine is frozen in the 'crane' position. It's on my list of 'to do's'.
And I agree, reading the TMs is important. The 816 is very expensive to repair, and any crane can kill you if you do not know what you are doing with rigging or lifting...
The Army's specifications and the real world are two different things. Is the 1009 capable of pulling more than the 1200 lbs in the TM, yes it is. I have flat towed my 1008 with it MANY times as I was getting it put back together. It struggles up hills but I am at ~5500 ft so the altitude is...
Yes, a 24 to 12 inverter will work, but make sure that its capacity is capable of handling the amperage load of your equipment.
For the cost, I'd see if you could find a 24V air compressor. It will pull fewer amps and therefore put less stress on the electrical system.

I'm assuming this started just after you replaced the GPR? I would start by disconnecting the small wires from the relay and see if it goes away to isolate the problem. It sounds like there is 12V backfeeding through some system and feeding those lights.
Also, what relay did you replace your...
You should download the TMs for the truck from the 'Resources' tab at the top of the page. The TM number for the CUCV is 9-2320-289-##. The -20 is the intermediate maintenance manual and includes all of the wiring diagrams.
I have a butchered harness from one of my trucks, I'll see if those...
The two relays are for Gen 2 and the Voltmeter, the other 24V systems in the truck. The relays isolate the 24V stuff from the 12V stuff.
Is the plug missing from your harness for the relay, or just the relay? The relay itself is a standard automotive Bosch relay. I just ask for an AC relay for...
Check to make sure that the Gen 1 bulb is not burned out. It is essential to make the charging circuit work.
The relays are standard Bosch relays commonly used for fog light relays or other automotive applications. Ask for an AC relay for a 1989 Jeep Cherokee at the parts store.
The starter...
Did your mechanic check the starter relay under the dash? It's a silver relay near the round plug under the radio section of the dash.
If that relay dies, the truck won't start. Unbolt the three bolts and the whole bracket with the starter relay, Gen 2 relay, and Voltmeter relay will come out...
You can use the standard bumper brackets/bumpers from a civilian truck. Of course, the civilian bumpers won't have the holes for the shackle mounts, but that's the only real difference.

As I posted in your other thread (460CES) It's a TF-1 Flood Light set. Commonly used by the USAF until about 10 years ago when they started phasing them out for newer ones.
The 5KW ONAN is basically the same as a MEP002. I believe that it is governor frequency regulated though rather than...
460 CES is the 460th Civil Engineer Squadron (currently located at Buckley AFB, Denver, CO)
Power Pro is Power Production Shop (My AFSC or MOS for you Army types)
LC-1 is Light Cart number 1
It is probably a TF-1 Flood Light Set. A pic will help me verify. Used them extensively in the desert...
Hey Mike,
I've got a friend in the towing business who might do a storage lien on it for you for ~$200. PM me if you're interested so we can work out details.

Joe
I need to run to Reno to pick up my 1031 sometime in the near future. I could get your goats on the way back to CO and bring them down to you. Let me run some figures to get an estimate of what I think it would cost me to do it and I'll PM you.
Later,
Joe
A) No, you can't. If it starts, you can start it and put it in gear to see if it engages, but you are not allowed to drive the vehicle.
B) Yes, you can. They encourage you to inspect the property before bidding. The instructions to get on base are listed in each auction.
C) Inspect the...
