RE: Re: RE: Check valve for oil filters?
Ok here is my $5 soap box speech on what I have learned while researching my oil filter change out... and what finally drove the mod to be a necessity rather than a luxury for oil changes. Sorry its so long but its a lot of information...
Dry start is...
RE: Opinions on value of this bobbed duece
I think its incredibly hard to put a price on some vehicles... a bobbed deuce being one of them... There are some that commonly sell for $2,500 and some that sell for over $20K... The question boils down to is the vehicle and its use worth it to you...
I would think the cost involved would be astronomical especially after blasting my truck... Or well... blasting most of my sheet metal anyways...
I started off chemically striping the parts and then switched over to sand to finish the rest off with a rotary compressor and pressure pot... I had...
Ken I think most of these if not all are posted under the trucks thread...
Really all I need is to throw in my lines but I have a lot of things they would be in the way of right now... http://www.steelsoldiers.com/index.php?name=PNphpBB2&file=viewtopic&p=69778
Thanks Will... I think I am more the master of screwing up perfectly good metal... and starting over... If ya only knew how many times I remake things some weeks!!! lol...
Truth is... A lot of these mods are not mine... But come from everyone on the site. When I was researching trucks I would...
Ok some fiddling... or.. I am sure it looks like such but I have about 12 hours in machining and re machining parts for the wipers... I started off with a CJ Jeep kit... I needed bases from the kit mostly but they were not long enough to clear the windshield frame so I had to machine longer...
RE: Re: RE: ANYBODY HAVE THE SAME EXP. WITH INSPECTIONS?
AH... good ole Florida... Cheap MV insurance... $7.50 a year or $7.50 for life MV registrations... No inspections... Don't have to display a tag... Hurricanes... and they tell GL to go F*&! themselves for not issuing titles... Could ya...
Pending your intended use of the truck ether 11X20 or 395's... The 11's will give you a lower gear for off road / mudding but a lower highway speed... The 395's will give more top end speed but will not spin well in a traction situation to clear the lugs of mud... Mathematically speaking the...
Lax... In digging through some PN's and using what houdel posted for the intake here is your stack PN's (with some options)... One thing I didn't agree with is the exhaust elbows on an intake since you need them 100% sealed and water proof... Silicone, welding, etc are options but I would prefer...
Run it up to temp a few more times (2-3) and see if it continues to do so... If so change the cap (see parts cross)... If it continues after that repost, ya might have some issues. Mostly ... WATCH your gauge until ya figure it out!!!
Ok nothing as drastic as last weekend but I got the front of the frame painted finally and did some more assembly... This will proably be the last of it for a while, mostly I wanted to get the parts off of the floor before someone screws them up... Before anyone says it... I have to make or...
Im going... come hell or high water... Worked to damn hard not to do a little show and tell and I can fit mine in one spot!!!
Kenny... lol... forgot... come get your 100 gals of WVO!!! (im leavin him no excuses)
Geesh... I had no idea those had so much too them... I have looked at them on auction in the past with some interest but after hearing everything about them I will most certainly try to buy one close to me the next time they come up!!!
BW... Ditto on what Ken said...
Invest a few $ on undercoating it really does make a big difference in tempature. The parts I have finished have been moved in and out side in the sun for some cure time... In the afternoons you can not grab the un-undercoated parts, their to hot, but the stuff...
I don't mean to be a stick in the mud but...
I think that much heat from under the hood would just trip the high pressure switch on the system...
If your going to drop $265 on a heater and still have to buy valves, cables, parts, pieces, etc check with Danhard and look at the 00204-HC...
My finish date was a month ago so ya see how well that works... To many hang-ups here and there really stack the time on fast. The windshield and power steering pump were the worse of the two thus far... Simple things like lost shipments and slow shipping are eating me up right now... I think I...
OK... third posting in a row but it catches me up to today...
Painted was started at about 9PM last night and finished at 1am... I had a lot to do and did the last walkway posted above so it took some time.
Running on 3 hours of sleep I started assembly this morning.. its going quick but I...
LONG weekend but a lot of stuff done... paint paint paint... I can not tell you how happy I am with the end results! It took a lot of test spraying to get the mix right but I some how managed to nail the gloss level I was looking for perfectly. I paint, but I do not paint "often" so getting it...
Here is how I am doing the walkways on the truck... I learned this as a kid doing wing walkways on aircraft, the method works well, is fairly fool proof, and will hold up for a number of years... I will add text to the images but here are a few things to know...
I use aluminum oxide... I don't...
