Be careful on the fuel pump fittings.
If memory serves me right the 803 uses 1/4" JIC fittings on the fuel pump lines.
The 003 is 5/16 on most of the fittings, but 802 and 803 are 1/4" or -4AN if I recall.
Ah
Ok
I was going off some old threads.
Will go back and read some more.
Thanks
New belt installed and a spare.
The Dayton belt that was on it was just fine.
Will also be a spare.
This machine was well cared for.
24v Carter fuel pump.
I know it requires some 5/16 JIC fittings to work like original.
Getting close to the finish line.
Spent the morning flushing out the cooling system.
The vinegar worked like a champ cleaning the hard water deposits out of radiator.
Finally got all the crud and vinegar flushed out.
She's now has fresh 50/50 antifreeze.
Radiator cap hasn't leaked since cleaning the hard water deposits off...
I have NOCO chargers (5amp) on several vehicles that I don't drive often.
NOCO 2 amp on the lawn mowers.
Also have the NOCO 2X 5 amp hard wired on my CUCV.
Works very well
Thought about that and did that with my 5 tons.
I was thinking about using a 12w panel for both battery's or I could use two 5w ones (which I already have).
The wiring is a challenge to make look good with two solar chargers.
Where this thing will be sitting, I have access to grid power. I...
I took radiator cap off this evening and think i found out why it wasn't sealing.
There is a decent amount of hard water deposits, a layer, that was on the neck rim, inside the neck and on the cap itself.
I soaked the cap in vinegar and that solved that issue.
Took a brass brush and removed the...
I still have a few things to do before I’m “Done”.
Drain and replace coolant
Find a radiator cap that will work.
Install new fan belt.
Install newly purchased used and working AUX fuel pump
Once that’s installed and verified to work, I can put the tank cover back on.
WASH Generator. It’s...
Load test complete.
Huge success!!
Nothing broke and it stopped smoking anyway.
Do need a new radiator cap. It started slowly leaking again.
Only a 3 hour test since the heat index is brutal outside.
Let generator warm up and did the 25% load for 15 minutes, 50% for 15 and so on.
It did have...
My lost shipment of MEP-803A Water Temperature Sensors showed up today.
Small flat package that I almost ran over at the gate.
They shipped directly from the manufacturer.
Did not know that’s what was going to happen.
The original one still works fine but wanted spares
I’m glad they showed...

Welcome To Steel Soldiers.
Recommend you start your own thread about your compressor and it’s issues.
The manuals for the MC-2A are available for free in the TM section.
The manual for the 7MC-2A is still restricted and is not available here.
Looking forward...
Good point!
I failed to mention, I will be running a heavy gauge copper wire from the lug to a rod I’ve already driven into the ground.
The stove will be grounded to the lug and the ground wire will run from the lug to grounding rod.
That should keep things safe.
Load test cord is ready.
Storms forecasted for today so test will be tomorrow.
My soldering job is horrible. I ran out of my usual stuff and found some 40 year old solder in the barn.
Oh well, shouldn’t be an issue.
Have some stainless steel screen to cover bottom holes in generator...
100% agree
Just wait until you get/want a MEP-803A generator to power your house.
Fits nicely in the bed of your CUCV too!!
Then you’ll get that sickness too.
I love seeing the quality restorations of CUCVs.
Not hack jobs with cheap parts.
Yours will be around long after you are gone...
Amazon.com: Truck-Lite 37455C LED Projector Headlights, 5x7, Rectangular, Clear, 6 Diode, Heated, Hi/Low Beam, : Automotive
Price is about the same as the older ones.
Interesting design. Would love to see the beam pattern and light throw in person.
Heated front is a must for LEDs if your going to drive in snow.
I have been running the 27450C for over 6-7 years now with zero issues.
Super easy install.
They did come out with a heated version of the 27450C...
Made a gasket from FelPro material to go between the neck flange and the fill housing.
There isn’t supposed to be one there, but there was a lot of grit and sand that had collected underneath and a lot was on top of tank.
So this gasket should prevent that.
It’s diesel fuel rated.
It’s...
