Ok That’s the way I was leaning, but wanted to make sure there wasn’t a down side to doing it.

How to wire a power panel right to my mep 803a generator

Just for reference for others on what and where the grounding bar is. I didn’t know when I first got my MEP-803A and had to look it up. Bottom picture is NOT my generator. Borrowed pic from internet

    MEP-803A —— Did I Score? I think so……

Bottom well nut installed. Was a nightmare getting the old one out. (Replacement fuel drain cap was reattached after photo) Fuel fill neck and strainer cleaned up nicely and reinstalled. New fuel cap gasket installed. Used silicone grease on the gasket so it doesn’t stick, but still seals...

How to wire a power panel right to my mep 803a generator

Older thread, but current grounding question. Read lots of old threads, but still a bit confused. I think I understand it, but want to be sure. I'm clear on what color wire and gauge size goes to each lug on the TB2 panel. If I am wiring my MEP-803A (No Trailer) to the house panel, remove the...

    MEP-803A —— Did I Score? I think so……

Installed improved top well nut and the new gasket on low fuel sensor. Old gasket was in great shape and looked almost new. Not hard or brittle. Pickup tube gasket wasn’t leaking and is a nightmare to get to the rear screws, so I left it alone. For now. The inside tank picture seems to show the...

    MEP-803A —— Did I Score? I think so……

Those used small screws were the only ones that small and short that I could find. Rest is stainless. Didn’t have right size stainless bolts so I had to use Phillips screws again. Joy.

    MEP-803A —— Did I Score? I think so……

Installed and working. I decided not to cut any wires and just bolted leads together. That way, if I ever need to, I can use the original style sensor without any problems. I plan on getting the original style sensor as a backup. I still need to clean up outside of tank and install well nut...

You can install the KUS with the tank still installed. Just did it. Didn't take much effort but the sensor plopped right in. Forgot gasket, took it back out, and reinstalled it, with gasket this time. Now for the wiring and bolts. I still need to install the well nut modification kit.

    MEP-803A —— Did I Score? I think so……

Found two NOS OEM senders, but the sellers thought they were Gold. Oh well. You do not need to remove tank to install the new KUS sensor. Will be using SS bolts instead of the Phillips screws. Drained fuel and looked inside tank and surprisingly, it was almost spotless. The source of the old...

I did that. Yes. There were several dead spots in the range of travel.

    MEP-803A —— Did I Score? I think so……

Installed the battery hold downs today. Went ahead and used that one plastic shield on the starter side since it wouldn’t be in the way of anything. Don’t think I have it installed correctly anyway. The terminal flap covers will be installed later when I can find them. Edit: After looking at...

Found this picture in the old threads and will be labeling the switch and relays like this. Great idea. Picture courtesy of kloppk
