You need to figure out the foot print (the area of the tire in contact with the ground) for each tire. then add them up and you have the total square inches of ground contact. Then take the total weight of the truck in pounds and divide by the total square inches and you will have pounds per...
Welcome to the madness. I'll tell you now so it's not a surprise; if you have one MV, before you know it, you will have two. After that you need to get a bunch of spares (just in case), and it's all down hill after that.
Good luck and have fun!!!
I started working on the servicing and repairing of my new toy today. The first thing I did was see if the dump bed worked. I didn't try it on the way home because I figured if something took a dump (pun intended) it would be a pain in the A to get the bed down. But, it turns out there was...
Thanks Ray,
I'm pretty happy with the truck.
I'm going to look everything over and make a list of things that need work this weekend. The transmission filter showed up yesterday and I already have a spin-on oil filter adapter for the engine. I also picked up most of the fluids needed to...
Gulfway is the way to go. Carol is very nice and helpful. A couple of weeks ago I sent in the quote sheet to add my M929. I called a few days later to make sure they got the form. I left a message and Carol called me back and told me they had an audit going on and she was sorry for the delay...
You want the hot water heater in an RV to be as close to the sink and shower as possible. A long piping run takes too much water to get hot water at the tap. On my RV, the HWH is under the bathroom sink with the access panel and exhaust on the outside of the trailer. If I was installing a...
I won a M929 a couple of weeks ago at Pineville, LA. So last week a buddy went with me to pick it up. I think all of the trucks in the auction ran with or without a jump and looked to be in pretty good condition.
I scheduled the pickup for Wednesday, so we drove up to Alexandria, LA on...
What papakb said. Cad plating was going away in 1994 when I was working for a Mil-Spec contractor. We had a lot of hooks and ratchets for tie down straps that were CAD plated. That pretty much changed to yellow zinc plating. You may find some new old stock CAD plated stuff....
Good luck.
Welcome from Orlando, FL!
My brother-in-law has a cabin off 28 between Franklin and Bryson City that has been in the family since they built it in the '50's. My wife and I just brought property near his. It's really beautiful up there.
Maybe I'll see you this summer some time.
Will these work?
Check McMaster-carr PN 95795A030. That get you to the right page to look at the sizes available. These are inside and outside tooth star washers with a minimum hardness of C40.
Great rally guys, the weather was perfect and Vinnie, Jess and I'm sure many others did a fine job chipping in and putting on a good event. It was good meeting and putting faces with names.
Pete, you did an outstanding job for getting pictures and video of all the fun posted up. [thumbzup]...
I had to adjust the brake pedal on my M818 before I drove it home. You need .5 to 1" play at the pedal if I remember right. Check the TM to be sure. If the pedal is too tight the vibration of it running or driving down the road will cause the brakes to come on or not release.
Florida follows the federal standards and does require a CDL for trucks with GVWR as specified in the statute. What we need to remember is the GVWR is what the truck is rated for, not what you have it tagged for. A 5 ton of any type is capable of more than 26,000 lbs GVWR, and in Florida would...
