    Nice conversion

Someone sent me a link to one on FB marketplace a few weeks back for $42K as well. It was tan and in really clean shape with title. I absolutely guarantee that one is getting flipped... Edit: Disregard. It dawned on me later that that one was a HET. Still, crazy low...

    Nice conversion

I'm sure the tan one in HOU will be be for sale on <insert_point_of_compass_flipper_here> very soon for $472K. ;p
  3. Third From Texas

    Nice conversion

There's a tan M1087 (I think an A1 or A1R) in HOU for like $75K if I heard right. Alex at ACELA is helping to move it.

    Insulating Cab

Under the cab will be SOP. And the interior doors, roof, back and sides will be pretty simple. But I'm too spoiled hosing sand out of the entire cab with the garden hose and bare floors are simple to hose out. I suppose removable floormat sections under the feet would...

M1079 government cost estimate? 2008 model.

So true. The head of the DLA said a few years back that if he had his way, ALL surplus vics would be scraped and none put to public auction. I honestly expect to see that happen during this admin as political tensions rise with the coming elections. If shtf in a civil unrest fashion...

M1079 government cost estimate? 2008 model.

I just tell folks a quarter mil. Nice round number. When they ask what I paid for it, I tell them the National Guard unit down the road never locks their gate.

What have you done WITH your FMTV ( trips, Rescues etc) NOT: fixes, updates etc

Three days, two nights, case of Dos Equis, a 12 pack of Coors light, case of Gatorade, 20 gal fresh water, four hamburgers, dozen eggs, assorted fixin's. Several buddies stopped by to hang out over the course of the adventure (I live 12 minutes from here). Up a cooler full of finger...

Door Rod Clips (Where Our Vendor/Scalpers Get Them)

They sell the plastic ones as well it seems: https://henrysautowarehouse.com/?s=door++rod

Door Rod Clips (Where Our Vendor/Scalpers Get Them)

Yep, same concept/design. Chevy used them in doors back in the '50s. I'm sure they even pre-date that.

    Keith's M1078A1 Project Overland

On the three trucks that I've owned, the very first thing I did was delete two batteries and roll with duals. Again, I'm in S. Texas so it's not like I will ever have to sit in -40 degrees cranking on it endlessly trying to start (and if that ever became the case I'm smart enough to...

    Keith's M1078A1 Project Overland

Again, we're talking about the battery disconnect here. The OEM one installed at the factory. I don't recall if the A1 came with a battery disconnect, but the A1R does. So you're saying not to use it else your trans module will brick. Gotcha I think I'll wait for Ron to chime in...

    Keith's M1078A1 Project Overland

Can't say, don't have an A1. Mine's an A1R with a battery disconnect. and it sure as hell safely stops the drain when the battery is disconnected. I also know that a battery disconnect works fine in an A0 truck. Want to test it? Go pull your battery cables for a day. Hook them...

    Keith's M1078A1 Project Overland

Ron knows about as much on the topic as anyone I've seen post. He's had some interesting perspectives. There's the trans computer that is always on, but at the end of the day a battery disconnect solves all. :)

Door Rod Clips (Where Our Vendor/Scalpers Get Them)

    Well, it's been discussed again.

Door Rod Clips (Where Our Vendor/Scalpers Get Them)

Except the price that doesn't f*** the community members up the a** And I don't see Henry's listed there as a source of fasteners, etc. So you're pretty much mistaken....

    Keith's M1078A1 Project Overland

I'd have figured that it would require a balancer to populate the charge across all four. Know that 99.9999% of the time with these trucks the 12v side is too low due to the damned 12v vampiric leak they all suffer. So a single charger hooked to one battery with a balancer would...

Door Rod Clips (Where Our Vendor/Scalpers Get Them)

The right printer and material isn't cheap to do it, so I get that. Then again, these would come out to a=bout $20 after shipping for 50 of ea. :)

Door Rod Clips (Where Our Vendor/Scalpers Get Them)

Yep, just remember that you need the L and R clips for each rod (if I recall). My first truck had several of the plastic ones that were so brittle they fell apart at the touch. I used the plastic Dorman HELP kits that had like one of each size but one broke one of the 4 tabs off...

Door Rod Clips (Where Our Vendor/Scalpers Get Them)

The 5/32" ones? Because that is what came on the A1Rs. I've worked with them in 60-70's cars/trucks forever with no issue (as you say, they have to be the right size for the rod). Now there are throttle linkage clips that are identical that are too large, but this type clip comes in a...

Door Rod Clips (Where Our Vendor/Scalpers Get Them)

Yep, even when not on sale these can be found at most autoparts sites. They've been used in car/truck doors since the 50's. Or you can pay $20 for a set plus overpriced shipping from....the greedy.
