Location of the wire that is getting hot? 12v Terminal block? Alternator? Under the Dash? general location. A picture of the location will help greatly
Looks like a capasitor from one of the controller cards. Was it on the ground or on the floorboard. What part of the truck was it under?

Before starting any electrical troubleshooting always make sure your batteries are fully charged and loadtested.
If you only have one, you need to make sure how your truck is wired. 12v or 24v. Someone may have left out a battery.
Read the first few pages of Chapter 2 of the TM 9-2320-289-34 tech manual to learn how to read the wiring diagrams and how the wires are labeled for the diagrams
