Hopefully, next week my M51A2 will get some action. We are going to level part of the area around my son's workshop and the earth will be dumped around the outskirts of his property and to fill up a ditch to move the passing forest road 10 feet. An old Russian excavator with me as driver...
John, I was wondering how long it would take for somebody to realize that and comment. Not very long.
At that time, I was alternating slide film with Ilford high speed black and white film. The black and white film I developed and printed myself, and played around with those pics. So yes, I...
And the last for Friday, at least for the engine swap
093: Getting ready for lifting the engine out, with Swiss (left) watching
094: A really amazing and professionally working team: Ron and Robert coordinating the engine lift-off.
095: Lifting a bit, pulling forward, tilting, lifting some...
some key players in lack of action
Some of the key players taking it easy
083: Andy (Andy3) wondering if this really was a good idea to let these complete strangers have a go at his truck
084: Spec Ops Sgt Robert (rmtaunton)with his usual grin using the fender to get comfortable.
085...
OK Andy, here goes
A series about the first day of Andy3's engine swap, the mayor technical action of the rally.
075: Andy3's Deuce M35A2 waiting for its engine swap. It sat sadly alone on the repair field for the first few days until the action started.
076: The old engine: kaput. Broken...
What the heck, 16 of those beasts? Can I borrow one for next year's rally?
Would be fun to have one in front and then piggy-back (or however you call it) the rest behind it.
In this case, you should have the front wheels over the 5th wheel instead of the rear. This picture was taken in...
Night expectations for Atlanta on Thursday 24 Fahrenheit. I like cold more than heat; my record is below -50 Fahrenheit in February along the Alaska Highway. Minus 22 (no wind, clear sky) was considered a nice working day.
However, for the Rally my preference goes to the same dates as this...
OK, maybe not YET in your life time (with two sweeps of the polar vortex coming way down this year, who knows, it might come). But you plan for expected comfortable average. This year was a bit too warm for the time of year, next year maybe will be a bit too cold in the October period, but...
Today's average weather in the USA is a good reason NOT to have the Rally in November.
On the other hand, it could be fun to watch trucks trying to complete frozen trails or braking through fresh ice ... for about five minutes, and then its back to warmer shelters. I don't like too warm...
And some more
066: Tow bar anybody? Speddmon's cucv with its new bed already put to devious use in nightly raids for firewood.
067: Wreckerman getting ready to set up shop
068: I risk being banned here but this Peterbuilt was a very close contender for King of the Rally for me. Should have...
Some more details of Friday's activities and on-goings. Even if I wrote something there already, feel free to add details or comment; I will incorporate it.
059: Breakfast at Mike's ...
060: ... or some coffee on the go. Not quite sure though what the spare parts and the grill are doing...
Friday on the field
Some more wide views of the vendor field Friday morning. It wold fill up quickly during the day.
054: The far left side of the field, with a very young LMTV more to the center. Cropped that one out as detail. Any details like make, proper desingation, owner??
055 -...
Two more from Thursday
052: line-up across the street from the registration tent.
Far right is Ferro's white railroad cucv.
Second from right, the darkgreen cucv is Thundercracker's
Second from left is Wheelspinner's camo m1009 driven all the way from NY by his son Gametender
The truck...
Thursday morning
Getting light
Some impressions from the early Thursday morning vendor's field and the MKT at the break of dawn,
The next mayor action underway: the bed swap, with 73m819 on the wrecker with Recovery4x4's CUCV getting a new bed. Recovery4x4 gave comment to the pics that I...
Thanks for the info, I updated the pics accordingly. Keep the data coming folks. Look at my signature to go quickly back to the pics and help me identify those without proper identification. If more trucks are on the pics, more owners will be mentioned, so keep it coming.
Thursday morning: MKT crew in action
Thursday very early morning, the MKT crew in action for the first breakfast. They deserve their own post for their great work.
I added the first and last pic to show how early it was, not yet light. The first and last pic are 16 minutes apart!
Not all...
Some people asked me about Holland - The Netherlands, and papabear reminded me of the video I once posted on the topic.
For those who missed it the first time: have fun, hope you'll understand my background a bit better.
Oh, and be happy it is so simple now. Since 1948 we lost the East Dutch...
