I don't think the brace was ever implemented?
The "D" stamp is as good as it got until the issue was fixed with the A1R trucks (ie: the same rear end assembly as the 5-tons leveled out the propeller shaft angle).
I didn't even bother to trim mine. It only takes a minute to remove the covers and I really can't say that I've ever had to access the valve stem or CTIS assembly.
They were thrown away in the field, I hear. Motor pool didn't want to mess with them. You could find them at auction for $80 a...
I'd say it's pretty close after you factor in the additional 20% for fees and registration. A couple of those trucks had very low use (part or IT unit of Northrop Grumman iirc). No AC or anything special so I'd put an A1R in that condition at around $20K ballpark.

Not intentionally while on a patrol or convoy, I would think.
That's silliness for back a base. Heh
You drain them of air to prevent water from condensing in the wet tank/system. I't not going to hurt things to let them sit for a few days even in the most humid of climates. But draining air...
Pretty much every truck I've ever seen had the buzzer taped.
I like his solution as a replacement for the tape.
Other discussion stuff not applicable.
;p
I need to pull mine. It was rebuilt by the PD that sold it to me.
But every time it rains, it drags or just clicks at the solenoid. I looked all over for a short until I finally noticed where someone had been smacking it with a big hammer or small sledge. Tapping it works, so I figured...
