What did I stumble on, Deuce or 5-Ton??

Thanks, I could not find good examples yet. Name history was in the WIKI on Kaiser - Kaiser Jeep history. I was interested in it because we have one.

What did I stumble on, Deuce or 5-Ton??

The winch actually looks like a maritime item to me, certainly looking at those two side-slips on each side of the actual winch. I saw similar but much older winch sets on the old ships that carried cargo through the Dutch canals. Some older sailing boats might have similar winches. I will try...

What did I stumble on, Deuce or 5-Ton??

Thread has moved on while I was sound asleep (due to the odd 7 or more hours time difference) hence the late reply. Tires are 11x20s, not 9x20s. Kaiser name "The company changed its name to Kaiser Jeep in 1963. By 1969, Kaiser Industries decided to leave the auto business, which was sold to...

M817 New Air Pack Installed Brakes Lock Up

Is this specific for the 800 and later series or do the M51s have the same problem? I am asking because a full brake system overhaul and maybe installing a double system is second on my list (steering problem is first).

    Sir, I stand corrected:not worthy:

    GL new website

Thanks, it does. Sounds logic, but shouldn't you get more M35,s there then? Then again, did not check that carefully. Following it, I did noticed that some GL posts mentioned 2 1/2 ton and some 2.5 ton With the second, you indeed could get the "5-ton" mistake. For a computer nerd, it's very...

    Transport needs European style

Unloading A free moment to upload some more pictures. The transport started driving from Rijssen, the Netherlands Monday morning. In the end, he arrived in Trebon and we hooked up around 13 PM Tuesday. It is only 900 km (560 miles) but Europe has very strict rules on driving and resting time...

    GL new website

Looking at the 5-ton section and saw the announcement of an M35 A2C in there (hope this is not against rules). This wil probably happen more often. Now the 5-ton fans will ignore this item and most of the deuce fans will not find it. Is this the moment to get an unexpected cheap deuce?! Too bad...

    MV type sticky

Me and my big mouth  Will try, but these weeks are too busy for us with the museum to do much beside it, has to wait till August.

One Piece at a Time...My Deuce Project

Seeing the picture of the dump in action, I first got confused on the single action cylinder and the cargo-like bed without the front part that sticks out over the cabin (is there a name for that part?). Then realized its a deuce and not a five ton. What vehicle type you have, an M47, M59, or M342?

    MV type sticky

Let me put it differently. I know how to find on other sites which type is what. Just thought it would be cool for newbies if we had something of a list as well on SS, with examples of our own vehicles. Having said that, thanks for the link.

    MV type sticky

Still being a newby focussing mainly on my own vehicle and its kin. Reading also other threads, I often run into MV type numbers where I haven't the foggiest what the **** it denotes. I have to look up other websites (Olive Drab etc) to find which MV type belongs to which MV. :lost: How...

    Transport needs European style solved

Thanks. With the summer being our main working season, completely restoring the truck will have to wait till autumn. I do hope that at least we can repair the steering and braking problem sooner and get her on the road "as is" in August already.

    Transport needs European style

The first two pics are how it looked two years ago, when this adventure started. We now had to get the shovel running. For those interested, it is an 1973 Atlas 1302 wheel shovel with a four cylinder air-cooled Deutz engine. As indestructable and on par with the multi-fuel. We managed with...

    Transport needs European style solved

These guys are professionals and know what they are doing. Actually, the company doing the international transport also works in collecting accident cars and trucks for the "golden angels" (European equivalent of AAA) throughout the whole of Europe. Besides, they transport crazy things like the...

    Transport needs European style solved

Thought I put a heads-up in this forum on transporting an M51 through Europe (you know, this strange continent where the ancestors of so many of you came from). The complete story is told in the 5-ton section, but maybe others who mostly skip 5-ton stuff like to read about this as well. Only...

    Transport needs European style

back to where it all began Then came the drive to the loading place. This is the place where the truck was originally standing when I bought it, together with a 1973 Atlas 1302 wheel shovel. As said, we were a bit over the max allowable height. Driving behind the truck, at some times I was sure...

    Transport needs European style

or: never thought my M51 was a small truck until..... Finally managed to get my M51A2 to the Czech Republic. Thought I would share this with you. First thing I did was trying to repair the engine kill cable by replacing it with a lawn-mower cable. Could not find the bold back to connect...

Nostalgia and rarity makes a good price driver. What are the links to the German (or US in Germany) auctions where one can still get some US or Nato army material?

In the Netherlands, they have so-called red diesel - cheaper - for agriculture vehicles. Colored red so they can easily check if you are using it in a regular road vehicle. Regardless, when burning ANYTHING ELSE than regular pump fuel, you are violating the law. Don't forget, in Europe a lot of...
