I use State Farm for my 5 ton. I added the rider to my policy, but also sat down with my agent and asked if he understood how big the truck was etc.
He told me he did, and stated "The only thing is we will only tow it to the nearest authorized repair center", to which I replied "So.... where...
And there are members here who have a WEALTH of knowledge and have sent me their numbers and I stay in touch with them, not only for the info they provide, but for contacting someone who has a same set of interests as me.
Personal story:
There was a member who I met IRL, became friends with...
Let's use the time issue....
Let's say I'm having a problem and I'm on the side of the road or working on my vehicle and something seemed "off" and I'm working with only my phone, not a tablet or physical copy that would be easier to see, search etc.......
Which would be easier, not to...
Here's my .02...
When I first came to the site I had bought a deuce. I wanted info and asked several questions that were replied with "DiD yOu rEAd ThE tMs?"
First of all, I had no idea what a TM was. Secondly, while I NOW understand how the TMs are arranged, I **still** have trouble finding...
After surfing the net, I came across this reference sheet. The bulb I'm referring to is #6-623 Bulb "Running Light"
I have no voltage at that socket on both sides of the truck.
Also, when I was in the Corps, we laughed about the efficacy of the lights too... and the BO Drive light was hardly better. We almost ended up in a 1000 lb bomb crater except our driver felt something was amiss and stopped the truck.
(I was in the back with the artillery shells and powder 🤷♂️)

I was installing the LED B.O. lights that @jeepaddict was kind enough to pay forward and ran into some head scratching questions.
The first question lead me to the next and so forth. I'll try to be as accurate as possible so answers are clear.
I was changing out the rear white LEDs in...
Basically what happens is whatever replacement value you assign to it will determine your insurance price and whether or not the company will insure it.
When I insured my 5 ton, I assigned a value of $23k even though that isn't near what I paid, but that's what I would pay to replace it if a...
I just sat down with my insurance agent (great people!) and discussed the peculiarities of the 5 ton (weight etc) and was assured that had been taken into consideration when the policy was written, so I'm covered.
P.S. to the thread:
We had a great thread on this some years back concerning bought -vs- built one man bleeding systems.
You can find it here.
Always great info in the site!
Recently removed, disassembled and cleaned up the rear sliders. They had been frozen in place from not being used... also replaced and repaired the windshield windows hardware for a true "5/50" air conditioning. 😂
Also had the cargo cover repaired at a local awning shop in preparation for camping.

My sweet sweet girlfriend decided for my birthday/father's day she was going to buy the backup camera kit and complete overhead hardtop console for my five ton from Those Military Guys.
I had some questions, so called and spoke to them about installation of the backup kit and mounting...
Welcome to the site! Best of luck and do what Mullaney said!
A little clarification... (this confused me at first)... the -10 and -24 he speaks of are the last numbers of the tech manual.
For instance, the first one he speaks of, the "-10" is actually numbered "TM 9-2320-387-10"
Hope this helps!
When I bought my 5 ton, I couldn't get the back sliding windows open for **anything**.
Started prying and thought "that's a good way to break glass", so what I did was remove the entire assembly, took the window frames apart (4 bolts, very easy), removed the glass and gaskets from the frame...
As I stated in the nomination thread, not a whole lot done to her. Attached are before and after cleaning, after I got all the dash/marker lights changed and working, before and after recovering the seats and at a car show
I just had to set it up to start again. After it fired up, I built pressure, took a 15-20 maintenance run, got home, pulled the zip ties off and tested it and it works perfectly.
