The previous owner did not get a title for the truck when he bought it and had to apply for a lost title, wait three years, and then get a new one created so that's where the year could have gotten changed. It may have been unknown to everyone downstream of it getting surplussed out.
Well I just perused Carnac's historical VIN thread and found my truck listed as a 1981 year of manufacture so maybe it is still sporting its original engine or at least its original engines data plates. This is exciting for me because I was hoping to get an '81 truck from the start but could...
Awhile back I tried reinstalling an original that fell out and I inserted one side then tried to pinch it to get the other side inserted and the clip snapped in two. Maybe the original was brittle but maybe I was doing it wrong. Are there any tips or tricks or proper procedure for installing...
Your truck looks good! Big & beastly. I'm on the fence currently between staying with duals and using a 12.00-20 NDT or jumping up to 53s like yours or maybe getting singled out with 14.00-20 bridge truck tires...
Sounds familiar. I bruised my ribs/sternum leaning over the radiator battling those fan belts...
I couldn't find a trick or an easy approach - I think the belts finally got tired of fighting and let me eventually muscle them on. I should've ate more wheaties.
My thoughts echo your own. I've also been procrastinating a coolant system flush and new straight hoses. When I did belts i skipped the water pump belt since it was "ok" and could be removed independently of the others. The first of the double belts took me 1.5 hours of fighting just to...
I finally found a replacement lens for the turn signal indicator after searching for almost 2 years. Small bit of progress but it feels good to get it installed. The old one came out in pieces.
Also called a locking ring style.
In regards to other comments in this thread: split rim is a different animal but only knowledgeable tire shops distinguish between these two.
TedCat, thanks for checking up on me :)
To be honest I've been keeping the tank at least half full and haven't had a problem since then so work on my tank has drifted to the back burner. My fuel gauge still reads incorrectly so the sender needs attention, but I do a visual check before a trip...
I've got (2) 8D batteries wired together for 24V and I'm wondering if disconnecting only the 12V terminal will hurt anything or will it cause some sort of uneven draw? I'm, uh, asking for a friend...
The +24V terminal is turning blue (corroding) on the exposed wires where the sheath has pulled...
I just happened to throw one up on my M813 while swapping my spare a few months back just to mimic a picture I saw of a red ball Express truck dualled up with chains in the snow:
