My soft top threads also came loose and I just finished restitching it yesterday with a heavy duty synthetic thread using a single thread saddle stitch. Four passes through vinyl and plastic used up more needles than a homeless camp and completely wore out my finger tips. I stopped counting...
On the topic of coolant, does it have life span in the vehicle? I have no idea how old mine is (as old as the trucks last military service possibly) but if I drain it and strain it and if it tests out to provide enough freezing protection can it just be reused? Does it break down over time and...
I believe all the H-161 headsets (A thru G) work with the vic-1 boxes. I have both H-161 E/U and H-161F/U and only my F models have the newer bail out connector.
Good point on the dates codes. I see that Specialty Tire of America lists 3 different models of 12.00 x 20 in their current product list so maybe new manufacture tires can be had (versus NOS)? I imagine they only produce so many batches per year.
They have good prices and had a good selection, but exposure to all that Tuscon sunshine can't be doing their tires any favors. They have a sea of tires as you can see:
Has anyone bought tires there or otherwise done business with them?
I see them for sale and they may be a good option for replacing the 11.00 x 20s on my 813 but I'd like to see a picture of a dualled truck with the 12s.
Spicer probably has a different oil spec'd out than what the military used. I hear if you use that it shifts easier, but I haven't taken the time to find out what it should be. Make sure not to confuse 50W drivetrain oil with 50W engine oil. The drivetrain oils have an anti-foaming agent in...
I bought a winterization kit (personnel heater) from them (that's my only experience with them) and they seem as legit as any other business. Spoke with them on the phone and they were a pleasure to do business with.
I need to know how far the hub flange at the wheel mounting surface sticks out from the front face of the drum itself. does anyone happen to have a wheel off of their truck that could take a measurement?
Just for reference here is an excerpt from the Jacobs 25B installation instructions concerning the use of only 2 jake heads. I'm thinking I will roll the dice and mount 3-4 and 5-6 jake heads since that is the easier option for my M813.
Is the TM talking about end play (fore and aft) or about runout (up and down or side-to-side). Both can be considered "play" but both are in different directions and possibly impacted by different components...
Will, these are the aspects that I was trying to recollect from an older post of yours - thanks for responding! For the record I currently do not have a turbo exhaust manifold or a turbo so I do have the flexibility to choose the correct combo. I plan on adding 25B jakes.
