What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

I got it from TNJ Murray p/n: 7409990-1-B I believe eastern also has the same data plates.

    Introducing the Soldier B HubHelper!!

Adding slots would make it more flexible but also less secure. What I see when I look at the yellow/red overlap is that any material added to try and grab a 2.5 ton lug bolt (the red inside of the yellow) would prevent the tool from sliding over the 5 ton hub.

    Introducing the Soldier B HubHelper!!

I would love to get it to fit into a flat rate box. Currently I would have to cut it into pieces for that to work which could be done. Right now it's 22 3/4" tall and 8 5/8" wide. A modular one would be cool where one could change out the rings to fit 2.5 or 5 ton if there is no room to have...

    Introducing the Soldier B HubHelper!!

Good to hear! Just some helpful tips on using this tool: The foot goes under the brake drum and you'll find 4 of the 10 holes with a heavy chamfer for engaging with the lug nuts to hold it together (you won't need all 10). On a rear axle you'll want to have the axle shaft bolts removed before...

    Introducing the Soldier B HubHelper!!

The first 3 HubHelpers have sold and I currently only have 1 left from this first production run. It looks like I won't have any more available until April.

    5-ton Ram air

Steve Saleen did some testing on his S197 mustang ram air hood scoop and they found at 70 mph you see 0.25 psi of boost. For a gas engine each pound of boost is worth 16 HP I think so that's ends up being 4 extra hp - not much. Not sure if it's true but some big cam guys on the commercial side...

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

I installed a new M816 flood light switch and data plate on my M813 for future off-road lights or light bar. I went at it from the passenger side trying to pop the knockout out and I got stuck in my cab. I couldn't move forward or backward, had the tranny shifter up my jacket, the t-case...

Jake brake 25A vs. 25B & their use with a pulse manifold

I'm to study up on jake brakes and turbos for the small cam NHC 250 and I have 2 questions bundled together here, but i think they're related. 1. What are the differences between the jacobs 25A & 25B compression brake? What I've read so far suggests the 25A is iron? and the 25B has an...

    Cab and Body Vibrations

My truck also shakes enough to vibrate even heavy items off the seat, out the door, and all over my yard. This happens when the engine is cold and idling around 550. If I up the idle to 650-700 it smooths out a lot and I've been tempted to buy the idle adjustment tool to increase my idle...

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

I shoveled a path out to my truck to test the new-to-me wheel chocks in their racks. I added some rubber Edge-Lok trim to my AM-1780 since it will be mounted up and behind everyone's head.

How do you stop a m809 if the brakes fail?

They make pinion brakes all day long for the axles. Might be a secondary option

    Introducing the Soldier B HubHelper!!

I added some color options for those that want one powder coated. Sorry, I don't have 383 green powder (but someday I will). Here are the choices: Gloss black Battleship gray Corvette gray Safety yellow A darker industrial green (similar to a dodge pillow block bearing color)

    Introducing the Soldier B HubHelper!!

I just got a fresh batch for 5 tons made up and they are ready to ship in their bare steel form. A powder coat option would add a few days delay. Check out the listing in the classifieds section: https://www.steelsoldiers.com/showthread.php?184951-The-Soldier-B-HubHelper *I'm also currently...

Does this sweet M813A1 RV belong to a member?

Have either of you quizzed the owner on what all they've done to the truck? This is fun that people personally know of this truck...

Does this sweet M813A1 RV belong to a member?

I was thinking the same thing. I'm guessing it's turbo'd given the large hood scoop and passenger side air cleaner and with the US flag on it I'm wondering if it has ever been on US roads - that would be a wide load for sure.

Does this sweet M813A1 RV belong to a member?

A friend sent me this random photo and I want to find out more about the truck. It looks like the real deal and not photoshop.
