I'll guess that your not talking about the genset you picked up out of Lake Butler this past week. Post up some pictures of the unit you are talking about & let the experts here help you thru the problem!
Welcome to a fellow Floridian, there are several people who have MV's for sale here in North Florida. A few in Ocala & a few more in Hastings. Don't forget to check craigslist & of course here in the classifieds on Steel Soldier!
I bought a spare lever switch in case there was a problem, a friend replaced his lever switch with a pad switch. Wonder which one will go bad first....hint, not the lever switch!
I have about 2500 or so miles on my original NDT's & they are starting to show wear, so looking @ that, it figures that probably 3500 to 4000 more miles will make them look like yours. They will be replaced before the wear indicators show a problem as traction & braking ability is a must in my...
The M1101 & M1102 are a dream to tow home empty with a 5K truck, pulled two from Atlanta & one from Ft Stewart to my AO. The M105a2's are better for firewood as you can carry more and dent less tubs! The surge brakes on the M-1101/2 series help to stop the loads if you don't have air over...
Thermostat is the first item to test after your inspection, it may be dragging or worse, not opening @ all. A new one & gasket will fix the problem provided your problem is as described! Keep us posted as what you do to fix her!
When I first saw the truck, the a/c had not been completely hooked up & the compressor was bolted to the side of the engine with no driving belt attached to it. I will have to go spend an afternoon going thru it with a fine tooth comb & a basket load of questions before I commit to buying it...
He put an a/c unit in it, changed the seating to newer seats, painted it black (I don't like black or yellow in vehicles) added floormats/sound deadening to the cab & the rest I do not know. I casually looked @ the truck @ the Mt Dora show in February, but didn't look real hard due to the price...
Guys, I am looking to buy the LMTV that I have always wanted. Its a private sale, not from auction & the truck has been painted & gone thru as you will see from the pictures. Your thoughts?
After you call & pay for the item, you then have to call the Gov Planet rep in the area to schedule the pickup with him. Usually, the pickup info is not divulged until you pay for the item first! If it is the same guy(should be) you will find him to be very helpful & accommodating.
What do you have to pickup from there? Is it from GovPlanet? The reason I ask is that I have been directed twice to Lake Butler & the actual item was @ Camp Blanding 30 miles away! There are several trucking companies that the Gov Plant rep can use as a pickup point for you. My second item was...
The last two M105a2's I recovered with rear racks stowed on the sides, I tied down with ratchet straps before starting home. My luck runs that one would fall off & go thru the windshield of a troopers car if not tied down! Sometimes overthinking is mandatory!
Thank you for backing up my posts. Here is an odd detail omitted here. The GP rep towed my M353 from North Jacksonville to Lake Butler with a larger truck @ 70 mph with no bouncing. When I towed it the last 15 miles home, it started bouncing after 32 mph & stopped @ 30 mph. I didn't think to air...
Okay, after looking @ the data plates again:
M-353 is 370#s tongue weight empty
M-105 is 310#s tongue weight empty
M1101 is 250#s tongue weight according to you as I don't have those data plates
My M1102's have a max tongue weight of 420 #s, but not a empty weight.
Yes, I know that both M1101 &...
Watch out that you don't get too much leverage from the trailer transferred to the riser & damage or worst case, break it off. The M105A2, even though they weigh the same, has 3/4 the tongue weight of the M353! Good luck on your project!
