AM General's ATAC (All Terrain All Climate) M809 trucks?

Both guys were active in the R&D division of AM General circa 2018 and may still be now. They were decision makers too. I'm not aware of any official historians for the company but I have learned that other branches of AM General (like their CCC 900 series division) were axed and all info was...

AM General's ATAC (All Terrain All Climate) M809 trucks?

I wish I had more solid proof than repeating what I was told on this topic but I had the pleasure of speaking to Steven Jonna and Tom (forgot last name) from AM General back in mid-2018, Tom later stopped by to pick my motorpool for Project Brutus and we got to talking. I asked about a variety...

Steel Soldiers MV of the month 2021 - October VOTE HERE!

Took the HET to refuel for her first time in this posts and it only cost me a 2nd mortgage on the house. During my 35 minute stay ($100 limit at a time) 4 people around me gave thumbs up and words of encouragement (I assume through seeing the grief of my wallet haha). One father walked...

Steel Soldiers MV of the month 2021 - October VOTE HERE!

This Oshkosh M1070 HET aka "Super Het" was rebuilt in 2008. Before I obtained her, she was a mess with 6 MTVR rims, a complete mix match of tire treads, and all had blown out side walls. Bumper was bent out, electrical issues, and no fuel caps so tainted fuel at the very least. Operational...

MV of the Month October 2021

Nothing says "Hello neighbors" like a M1070 HET.. for your consideration.

    So I bought a Het...

Howdy from Texas! The JP8 in the tank is fine as long as there's no water. Treat with any additive you prefer and burn it. The HET's are sensitive to their engine oil and should be changed out to SAE40. The Army uses 15w40 as a fleet standard for logistical reasons and they don't care about...

    m35a3 drive shaft lengths

9-2320-368-24P Pages 218-227 cover the shafts and subcomponents. I checked the NSNs and PNs to try to find product dimensions but came up short. Just the typical new P/N, cost, etc.. On that note I'm parting out an A3 if want a used set.

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

I'd imagine it to be safer than most MV soft skin vehicles for rollovers. With the cab being taller it's less likely to actually roll on its back and the piping for the cab bracing is sturdy. I don't see it being that helpful with any head on collisions unless you're not paying attention to...

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

They're original and come with the ROPS trucks. GSS air ride seats. I've got a spare pair in tan if you're wanting some.

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

I got this M923A2 ROPS truck up and mobile for the first time in a long time. She's dirty and needs some more minor lovin' but she at least starts and drives on her own. The engine is literally new yet the IP was gummed up from sitting. Such a waste of good equipment due to negligence.

What have you done to your 10 ton this week?

I felt this fits this thread better than any ongoing one despite not being a 10 ton exactly. Same purpose, right? After replacing all the tires, fixing wiring issues, broken air lines, and PMCS over the past few weeks the M1070 HET made its first long drive today for the Metal of Honor Parade...

    AR Museum Vehicle Insurance

I'm helping my local American Legion outpost and got one of their vehicles covered by Hagerty. Three years ago they wouldn't touch any of my wreckers due to "possible commercial use" nor my 2007 M1078A1R as it was "too new" but yesterday they said those blanket rules have been removed. A lot has...

M1079 government cost estimate? 2008 model.

Submit a FOIA request, but also there's a thread on this site where a member can see what has been last logged in the system. There's no way to have a complete history but you can piece it together.

M1079 government cost estimate? 2008 model.

My truck came from Korea. Best I could determine it was a soft cab (non-LTAS) and the fact they're only permitted so many units in country it may have been faster to replace than refit. Past that it's anyone's guess.

M1079 government cost estimate? 2008 model.

Here's some hard data from my personal adventures. There's roughly a $60K difference between the two models trucks but you must remember the sticker price is price of contract (truck, delivery, paperwork, etc) divided among the number of trucks purchased in that batch so price can vary...
