OIC, you are counting the tenths as a 'digit'
Pretty sure it was mid-80's when GM started installing the 6 (or 7 counting tenths) digits on more vehicles. I can't say when it was acrost the board standard.
I'd say it's most likely that CUCV's with the 6(7) digit have been replaced after a...
New springs are always the best way to go.
But you could also look in coil over shocks.
I think Gabriel makes a set.
They are supposed to add 500lbs of load cap/restore ride hight.
No idea what they run, but would certainly be a quick/easy install.
I had a set years ago on the rear of a truck...
Indeed, I don't understand the desire to convert to full 12v.
Especially since when I had my 78' civvy K-5 it was 'all the rage' to convert them to dual alt/batts for running high power KC's and inverters etc.
I see the 24v availability as a bonus, not a liability.
But to each his own.
What...
I did find what looks to be the correct cap through NAPA
part# BK 7031327
Maybe I'll swing by after work this week and pick one up so I can take it apart.
I see that they have breather oil filler caps, but I'm not finding the 'correct' part.
My concern is that the factory cap is not a 'free flow' style cap, but may be spec'd to work in series with the CDR.
I don't know if the mechanism within the factory cap is solely to avoid contamination...
M1009 has had oil seepage from the front of the oil pan since I got it.
No biggie, never enough to even register on the dipstick, not leaving any stains on the floor. I've been using it as my daily to/from work.
Took a long(ish) trip with it, about 400 miles round. Seemed some freeway time did...
I would beat the crap outa somebody if they ever did that to one of my vehicles.
Thankfully we havn't had emmisions testing here since the early/mid 90's
What size are those gauges that fit into the gen light holes?
I'd rather not loose my gen lights, but swapping a tack in place of the 4wd...
I think the only option is to have it calibrated differently.
I remember reading somewhere that the CUCV IP's differ from the civvy IP's only in that they are called HD. Which was further explained as they are simply calibrated for slightly higher flow then a standard civvy IP rebuild.
I...
The front springs are different then the civvy k-5's as well.
Been trying to find a set for some time now.
The closest I can match is an OE replacement part listing for a 73'/74' k-30 leaf.
Front DS has been a challenge as well, the civvy models didn't have a TH400 set up.
I've seen some on...
Nine times out of ten what you describe is air in the system.
I've never used a 'bleeding funnel' but it might be worth looking into.
Basically any time you open the coolant system you're letting air in, the way it's supposed to work is when it cools and creates negative pressure it draws...
Sure most of it is the same, but you still need to check because there are differences. Springs/sending units/CDR's/seats etc.
Whether you consider them 'special' or not, there are parts not found on civvy k-5's.
In any event I don't think being 'painted camo' has anything to do with the part...
Indeed it does, however it is a very basic guide that can give false conclusions.
When trying to diagnose mine the TM's info says my sending unit was bad.
Thankfully I was smarter then that and didn't go droping my tank. As it turns out my gauge was bad, even though it passes the TM's simple...
That's just the difference between torque and horsepower.
I will say my 78' inline six k-5 sure was a lot more 'ballsy' then the 6.2, but then it was a little lighter.
Like someone else said, if funding was not an issue a 4l80e would be my first choice. This is an expensive option because...
Even if the back window has enough travel to make up for it .. is it going to seal and sit firm, or rattle?
The real issue is that by raising the cap 1/4 inch all your cab bolts are now off-set.
That cab seal is likely to leak decently, even if you have enough play to get those bolts in.
The...
Anyone know why they didn't use the civy k5 seats?
My best guess is rear seat accessability from both sides?
Never had an 80's k5, but my '78's seats were more comfortable.
Sat a little higher, but were fixed seats, did not fold forward and did not adjust backward. (passenger side entire seat...
Using the 'bed rails' aproach harbors all sorts of issue's.
Look phenominal mind you, but your talking about cutting and mod'ing the fiberglass and lets not forget the mess you can run into getting that back window lined up.
My 'dream' setup would be an under-cap roll cage. With a removable...
Glad I saw this, I'll definitely have to check that connector while I'm at it.
Just a few days back my fuel gauge quit on me.
I had just topped it off the night before, then on the way to work in the morning I glanced down and it was reading 1/4 tank.
For a few miles I was livid, thinking that...
Note that unless you have changed your ingnition cylinder there is no ACC position. Only Off/Run/Start.
I wired my radio in the the IGN feed for the switched wire and the 12v feed for constant. After a couple days I decided to wire the switched side into a toggle switch so I could turn on the...
Indeed!
When I got mine I was amazed at how loud it was. One of my co-workers suggested that I must have an exhaust leak .... nope, that's all engine noise.
After running one tank of straight diesel through the next fillup I dumped 16oz of 2-cycle in (after researching many different additives...
