I couldn't source them except through the distributor for Dewey. If you or anyone needs them they can get through me at cost as they have a minimum order amount ($$$) and I had no choice but to buy more than I needed.
Working with a local VFD to change their 1079 into something more capable of service. Got a box in trade for the cargo bed..may mount the box back to the trailer chassis or who knows.
Petcock is on fleabay. What do you mean by through exactly? The rubber bushing on the tank to connect the fuel return line? If so I have some.
Also got mine running today and the only thing better than the quick start is her purring nicely. I will load test it tomorrow and break it in some. 3.1...
The injectors could be used in a pinch but mixing the two types would be bad as they actually inject a slightly different amount of fuel into the cylinder and a different "pop off" psi. Replacing the entire set of them shouldn't be a problem as I've pulled both types from the 855 blocks on the...
I'd go with G177s on a deuce but back on topic I put MVTs on my M915, M923A2, and a few dueces and loved them all the way. Avoid the XMLs unless you can verify their date as they tend to be an older tire thus more prone to cracking.
I picked up one with 3.1 hours from the factory. Was missing all the fuel lines and gaskests to fuel tank (which never had fuel in it). Can't wait to get it together and running.
I've had my M1082 for a few months now and use it weekly. It's a perfect fit for my M939 series trucks and seems to be a well thought out trailer.. ladder included!
Having just done a 250 swap take the transmission out with the engine. You certainly can just remove the engine but mating it back up is a PITA, you will be using the transmission access panel a lot to reattach it. Ideally a liner/cylinder rebuild is idea but do what you have to go to get it...
Fair price as-is would be $10K-$12K in Texas mainly due to title, reg, and it looks fairly clean. You'll get around $7500-ish on fleabay so throw it up on Craigslist and start networking!
Suprman is correct about the Michelin XLs, they are questionable tires at best. From experience, the 11's are nice from a stability/lifting stand point but 395s seem to be the best "super single" for a wrecker due to their wider width, thicker side walls, bolt on ability, and you still get...
-Old diesel is totally possible, it does smell disgusting possibly varnish like. If you haven't done a filter change yet it would be a good time anyway.
-Minor blowby out of the tube is ok during warmup, when you see it is the engine completely warmed up? Some trucks smoke and others don't.
-No...
