    FAV engine rebuild

Unfortunately much of the written "history" have many things that do not bare up to the actual evidence that is available. There are some photos of FAVs state side that have been equipped with things like the breakaway weapons mount, full set of radios etc that still had the civy lights but by...

    FAV engine rebuild

This is what research and observation of my FAV have shown, this is by no means the final word on this. The entire appears vehicle is 12V, starter, gen ect. it had a switch that in one position charged both batteries off of the 12V alt. and the other would provide 24V for the radios etc. At...

    Disassemble geared hubs

So why do you care so much about what I call it??? I'm not going anywhere!

    Disassemble geared hubs

Both of the gears in the hub called spur gears and that is technically correct, if you live in the narrow minded would of the HMMWV only then I can understand, but the rest of the mechanical world understands what a pinion gear is. Even the folks that built it called it a pinion gear. EDIT: To...

    Electrical Gremlins. HMMWV M1097R1.

The rear turn signal lamps are the same as the brake lamps so I would start looking at the brake light switch (signal also goes through the turn signal switch) Tail lamps are separate. Glad you are making progress, when you actually troubleshoot the problem you learn so much more about your...

    A1/A2 steering idler clarity??

OK so I got them reversed, wondered if I did that as it seemed like the A2 drag link would be thicker, they both came in at the same time and I opened them together on the bench. The drag link will be here Wed. THANKS!!

    A1/A2 steering idler clarity??

I just wonder if this is right??? I purchased A1 and A2 idlers. They are both virtually identical, both have the same casting numbers and the dimensions are exactly the same but for one thing. The taper is the same on both ball studs but the A1 ball stud has longer threads

    M998 Brake Pedal Wobbling

I think you will find the answer here. You might try tightening the nut, if the nut is loose it may need to be replaced, that is one nut you do not want backing out on you. Or the plastic bushings could be worn out.

    Failing Flasher Unit

Welcome to the forum!! Where did you buy the flasher unit? It is very possible you bought a Chicom knockoff

    Disassemble geared hubs

That is just wrong, spur refers to the type of teeth a gear has not its application. What about a ring and pinion gear, no small DC motor there. ;)

What have you done to your HMMWV today/lately

History has shown the gear type transfer cases are much stronger than the chain drive cases, the chain cases are quieter and cheaper to produce.
