I agree. And we work ours too. We haul everything from tents to mulch, and even people (just in parades)
And our 5-ton too. We haul dirt, rock, gravel, and sand on a regular basis. We put new sand on the beach (small lake) every couple of years, and this is the year.

They are not hard to make, just be sure it's long enough, or the ratchet extension won't clear the head.
I've done 12 tons on an XM817, and it handled it pretty well.
Like Porkysplace said though, be careful about hauling more than the license tag, and your license, will allow.

I like the cut down deuce bed for duals, but I like the M105 bed with singles.
If you want a cover, it is easier to find an M105 cover than it is to have the M35 cover modified.

The biggest complaint I hear is that the CUCV is "underpowered." Maybe that's by design. War is a bad place to snap an axle or twist a drive shaft. Too much power can be a bad thing.
If you want to talk underpowered, we have a 3/4 ton pickup with a 4.3L V6. They are good little engines, but...
Pretty much the same things you would look for on any truck or Blazer.
Look for major leaks around the engine, transmission, differentials, and brake components.
It should track strait when driving and braking. Look for uneven wear on tires, and check for tight steering. Make sure the brakes...
