Questions about bobbed M35 in CA

This is not a re-gear for the differentials, but a re-gear for the transmission: http://www.steelsoldiers.com/deuce-modification-hot-rodding/14728-overdrive-gears-available-soon-19.html

grease and oil in the bell housing

Yes. There are several threads here on the process, here is one: http://www.steelsoldiers.com/deuce/35419-rear-main-seal-4.html Again, there are several, I just linked that one because the first post has pictures of the seal.

on the look out for this!

Some of the places that do boat prop balancing can do other things as well. Call a big boat shop and ask them who they use.

    Non-Collector working Deuce's

I agree. And we work ours too. We haul everything from tents to mulch, and even people (just in parades) And our 5-ton too. We haul dirt, rock, gravel, and sand on a regular basis. We put new sand on the beach (small lake) every couple of years, and this is the year. There are a few pics of...

    head bolts and tools

The pic of the wrench isn't mine, but it's just like it. They are not hard to make, just be sure it's long enough, or the ratchet extension won't clear the head.

I have one of the home made kind I can send. I won't need it right away.

    m817 dump...real payload

I've done 12 tons on an XM817, and it handled it pretty well. Like Porkysplace said though, be careful about hauling more than the license tag, and your license, will allow.

    Help Broken Stud !

That would get my vote. Weld the nut on, then try to take it out right away. Sometimes the heat of the welding will break it lose.

Took the Deuce to a car show

I would have to pass on K.I.T.T., the Shelby is nice, but I have always had a place in my heart for the Pantera. That is one sweet GT5.

Boy scout camping with the M1009

Let me also take this opportunity to thank those of you that support Scouting. Not just the registered leaders, but also the dads that help out. The positive effect you have on our youth is immeasurable.

    replacement parking brake pads

You might also ask a local big truck mechanic where they have brake shoes relined. I had the parking brake shoes for our 5-ton relined for $75.

    bob job

I like the cut down deuce bed for duals, but I like the M105 bed with singles. If you want a cover, it is easier to find an M105 cover than it is to have the M35 cover modified. We have a "spare" M35A2 I've been thinking about bobbing. The truck is solid, but it has a lot of rust in the bed...

    Converting air to hydro

Wow, I can get you a bridge over the Ohio river cheaper than that. I just need to prin.....I mean find that deed.

Why do people bash the CUCV?

The biggest complaint I hear is that the CUCV is "underpowered." Maybe that's by design. War is a bad place to snap an axle or twist a drive shaft. Too much power can be a bad thing. If you want to talk underpowered, we have a 3/4 ton pickup with a 4.3L V6. They are good little engines, but...

Why do people bash the CUCV?

Pretty much the same things you would look for on any truck or Blazer. Look for major leaks around the engine, transmission, differentials, and brake components. It should track strait when driving and braking. Look for uneven wear on tires, and check for tight steering. Make sure the brakes...

It would take a lot of butterflys to lift a hood that big.
