I think the reason for this procedure is to ensure the crosshead is perfectly vertical on the crosshead guide. Especially on a worn engine, the crosshead could be slightly racked at contact with the second valve stem, resulting in binding and/or uneven wear between it and the guide. By making...
There are a few parts available from NAPA. Below is an old parts interchange list from the old website. Just because a part is listed as available at NAPA does not mean they have it in stock, so don't depend on it.
Good luck on your trip.
It would be better to send a registered letter. That way you have proof it was received, and by whom.
Unfortunately, thread titles cannot be edited. The OP or a MOD can only delete the entire thread and move the posts to a new one. A lot of work.
Good luck with getting your money back, you...
Something I've always wondered about the dump deuce conversion; Do you have to beef up the bed, or can it take the stress of being lifted in the middle without folding?
Just wondering.
BTW, your drawing makes your truck look like Wonder Woman's jet. Just an observation.
The best reason to sell a deuce, is to buy a 5-ton.
Seriously, I agree with what the others have said. They are cheap to buy, but can be expensive to own and drive. They are loud and rough, but that also makes them awesome.
But then, I've been in a REAL 427 Cobra. It was loud, rough...
We have an XM817 Dump (23,000#) that I've driven in snow up to 17" deep. Aired down, it would go just fine. The only problem I had was steering. It has NDTs and they wanted to go straight ahead.
If your avatar is your truck, you shouldn't have a problem with those tires. IMHO
You probably did as well with Saturn as you would have done with the place that relines shoes in Lexington. I still don't remember the name, but I remember it was $75 for the XM817. That was several years ago, so it is probably more now.
And to answer your earlier question: Yes, you would need...

There is more than one thread with ventilated engines, but this one has a couple of good pictures of the momentarily ballistic parts. The rod, anyway.
If you don't want to buy new shoes, there is a company in Lexington that can re-line them. I can't find the invoice from our XM817, but I'll keep looking for the name.
It is around Commercial Drive, somewhere.
There are a lot of cable control, and solenoid control valves available in the racing market. The problem is, they're not cheap.
Here is an example of a cable control valve: Shut Off Valves
You can sometimes find them used a lot cheaper, but like everything else, no warranty.
I was going to...
Thanks for the clarification.
I think they further exhibited their hypocrisy when they exempted themselves from their own law. The state can run former MV, but the public cannot.
I can see that strategy going very wrong.
What if it backfires, and instead of saying "They're right, these should be street legal" they decide to say "They're right, we shouldn't be selling these"?
Be careful what you ask for. All the trucks they're now selling could become scrap metal.
I've thought about the same thing, but instead of using a spring to return the valve to "open", I thought about putting another adjustable stop on the cable. It would push the valve open when you push the emergency stop handle back in.
