    Gasser Chassis and Data Plate

The sound, or lack of it, when a 331 is idling at 300 rpm on MoGas is just peaceful...no clanging, banging, shaking, or smoking... Same with the 270s and the 302s in the Jimmies... A real Diesel like a DT466 would be nice in a Deuce, too.

Notice of Thanks - Saturn Surplus

RE: Re: Notice of Thanks - Saturn Surplus Jeff and Jae Hain-Matson at Frontline have also been my friends and fellow Surpies for many a year and of course are also a good part of this community of MV- Ophiles... We, are now the old timers and of course, predated the SSoldiers by 20 or more...

    Aftermarket Receiver Hitches

I elected to keep the extra stock bumper bracing so the little cutting and fitting was necessary..as I use the pintle and the original bumper for the safety chains....etc

    Aftermarket Receiver Hitches

RE: Aftermarhet Receiver Hitches In my case, the big support brackets for the rear tow bumper had to be modified to fit a civvy class 4 hitch..but hot wrench and a little welding rod fixed it good.

    Trailers?

M1009s, I think were only authorized to tow M416 style trailers...but we usually just hooked up anything that would fit... My 94 Caprice Classsic looked fine towing the ton and a half water Buffalo on the Mass Turnpike and got a big smile from my Trooper friend when he passed me at about 90 clicks

Help with unit numbers on 1951 M37

The two hole adaptors were subject to breaking when the one inch set was used on large tows such as a 5 ton...leading to the inclusion of the two one hole sets in the towing and recovery set.

    Battery specs for MEP-002A?

It is either the 2HN times 2 or the 6TN (TL) times 2 if it has the arctic kit, I believe....in other words, either the Jeep or the Deuce OEM size... The smaller gen sets... used two of the 2HNs or one of the 4HNs...Sorry Chris, I am not with my manual brains, as you know.

Help with unit numbers on 1951 M37

Line # for convoy was usually chalked on right hand door... Convoy Group (serial) and vehicle within that group as in 3-21. The right hand number on the bumper was usually the sub unit and the vehicle # within its T0&E. C-1 would be the Company Commander's vehicle of C Company for...

    ammeter

In the M880 series of trucks, the ammeters were of the non shunt type and took the full output of the small 12 V alternator thru the dashboard as I remember it, or if shunted, still carried enough current to break the soft solder and then there was a problem with arcing and melting and many...

    5 Ton paper work help

RE: Re: 5 Ton paper work help Yup, 55 is certainly fast enough for a 40 year old truck with juice brakes... remember only single circuit and failure of one wheel cylinder means no brakes at all....

M818 parking brake and power steering

Engine oil... Any alternate parking brake vehicles equipped with spring brake can would not be able to be pushed or towed without pullback bolt release of said can in a situation whre there was no air pressure in system to do it pneumatically. A cable operated pinion brake on one of the rear...

    Gasser Exhaust Part ID?

RE: Too far away Wow, those kits look like the bunch Nate Schwartz had in Clinton MA, years ago.... They were for the 5 ton Gasser Dump Truck... I sold a couple of them to VTDeuceDriver as the intake pipes can be used on any of the 5 ton gassers, but the exhaust was funny to get around the...

    frame numbers

Looks like a run of the mill M35A2 type..The 0525 series is prevalent with a lot of trucks surplussed... The series started with 10001 and went well beyond your 13577. I do not have access to the production tables here, but it has been posted and others are more familiar with the quantities...
